In 2021, Matters will go one step further from a decentralized platform, launch the first blockchain journal in Chinese, Travellogger NFT, develop the blockchain co-creation project The Space, build Matters Discord, and hold Web3 events, hoping to become a Web3 Learning base.

Having operated Discord for nearly four months, we believe that we need to establish a point and incentive mechanism to promote Matters Discord to grow into the best Web3 learning community in Chinese.

Matters Discord has launched a monthly points system from now on, using SourceCred as a calculation tool to count the highest monthly scores, and they will receive rewards such as cryptocurrency, NFT, POAP, peripheral products, etc.

There are two types of rewards:

1. "Monthly Star": The first six who have accumulated the most points due to interaction each month will receive the "Monthly Star" reward.
2. "Rookie Award": The two new friends who joined Discord in the month and had the highest interaction rate were awarded "Rookie Stars".

The Discord points system will be settled once a month. The June start date is June 24th (Friday), and the settlement date is July 31st. After that, it will be changed to once a month. Final settlement shall prevail.

We have observed and tried SourceCred for over a month, and believe that the tool calculation is reasonable and reliable. In SourceCred's system, Cred is points and Grain is tokens, which are settled regularly, during which Cred will be converted to Grain proportionally. Grain as an incentive measure will be announced in the next few days.

Introduction: SourceCred constitutes a contribution graph from members' contributions and relational networks, and applies the PageRank algorithm to the relation graph to generate a score. Each contribution is called cred. The basic idea of tooling is that a contribution gets credit if it is related to other contributions. Contributors are related to contributors they have helped, and they can also gain relevant credit. (Click here for the specific algorithm)

Matters focuses on the "quality" of communication, so in the design of our use of SourceCred, we have set up different ways to obtain scores, and there will also be various weighted designs to obtain more reasonable calculations by recording people's opinions, interactions, and reactions. For example, if you think that a user's participation in Discord will help drive overall learning, such as posting personal high-quality articles, asking high-quality questions in AMA, and discussing in channels will help drive learning, and be friendly to newbies and actively answering Questions, spontaneous activities for everyone to participate in, etc., and you want to "support" the other party, you can enter a sentence in the channel, the sentence needs to "Tag" the user you want to support, and the reason.
