Daily feed | The War of Generations Email Marketing Company MailChimp Announces Ban on All Encrypted Content
Many concepts of Web3, such as "decentralization" and "free access", will undoubtedly have a huge impact on traditional business models. Recently, the well-known email marketing company MailChimp has removed two newsletters related to the encryption industry.
Ryan Selkis, the head of one of the companies that was taken down without warning, stated: "Thank you for what you have done to the most reputable encryption platform in the industry in the past 24 hours. You have proved that Mailchimp and those censors must be destroy."
The incident sparked a long-standing dispute between the Web2 company and the Web3 concept. Mailchimp's reason was that it found that a lot of encrypted content was dangerous to the mainstream, full of scams and boasting.
And the topic of the crypto world is often capricious. One second you boast that you have earned your first pot of gold through a crypto platform, and the next you say that cryptocurrency is dead.
Selkis’s view is that it’s no surprise that these industry leaders have become some of cryptocurrency’s harshest critics, and that Mailchimp kicked him without warning as unprofessional.
The event brought us a great warning. Even though the concept of Web3 stood at the forefront of finance and technology, it also shook the foundation of many traditional business models.
Just like Airbnb shook the hotel's cheese🧀️, the subversiveness and influence of Web3 technology are immeasurable. How to smoothly transition from Web2 to Web3, and even discover a mode of coexistence between the two will be an issue that everyone needs to face.
