2021-07-01 July 1st Parade - 2019 Review

Today is July 1, the 24th anniversary of the handover of Hong Kong sovereignty. The 50 years of Hong Kong's "50 years unchanged" are less than half passed, but I believe that there will be no June 4th candlelight party and July 1st parade in the future.

Here I would like to share with you a photo record of my participation in the July 1st parade in 2019, which may be the last legitimate July 1st parade I have ever participated in.

Since 2003, this is the fourth time I have participated in the July 1st parade, and I still feel that I am self-disciplined, rational and orderly, and everyone expresses their demands peacefully.

The weather was very hot today, but it did not prevent everyone from standing up and expressing their dissatisfaction with those in power. Starting from Causeway Bay Station, we soon came to the bottom of the Gooseneck Bridge.

Walking along Hennessy Road, I began to see a lot of political figures. What impressed me was that young people took the initiative to help recycling aluminum cans and plastic bottles and flyers.

This is the first time I've walked to the scene since he jumped here that day. When a person dies, it means that there is nothing left. How desperate does a person have to be before giving up his life? Or the helplessness and accusation of today's society. Passing by the place where he fell on the same day in Pacific Place, the marchers laid flowers for him, or wrote messages to commemorate him, some volunteered to help with the flowers, and some emergency workers paid tribute to him. Reading every note written to him, I felt an indescribable pain in my heart. I also thank Pacific Place for not removing the flowers and notes for many days, probably because of foreign ownership. But then CX also knelt down quickly. When your spring bag is being pinched by others, others tell you to sit down and kneel down.

Everyone took local materials, and the bus stop near the Bank of China Building suddenly became a "Lennon Wall", which is the creation of Hong Kong people.

Departing from the east corner of Causeway Bay to Central, the two-hour parade ended.

At about 4:00 pm on June 15, 2019, Liang Lingjie, wearing a yellow raincoat with "Lam Cheng killed Hong Kong black police in cold blood" written on the back, climbed out of the temporary working platform more than 20 meters high outside the Pacific Place, Admiralty, and went to the shed. The banners on the rack read "Complete withdrawal and delivery, we are not a riot, release the injured students, Lam Cheng step down, Help Hong Kong". The police received a report from the security guard of the square that Liang holding a knife and a banner lingered on the platform and arrived at the scene, blocking the two westbound traffic lanes on Queensway. During Liang Lingjie's dangerous station, some citizens present sang the hymn "Sing Hallelujah Praise to the Lord". Legislative Councillor Kwong Junyu came to the scene to support him after learning about it. He asked the police three times to have a direct dialogue with Liang Lingjie to persuade him to return to a safe place, but the police refused, only saying that there was a police negotiating team at the scene, and Kwong Junyu stayed in Admiralty. A loudspeaker was used on the pavement across the road, calling on Liang to "come down, let's go to the parade tomorrow." However, the sound could not reach the platform of Pacific Place, and Liang was reluctant to talk to the police negotiator. At about 8 pm, Liang Lingjie took off his yellow clothes and sat on the platform to rest. Police officers and firefighters with shields stood guard upstairs. At about 9 o'clock, Liang Lingjie suddenly climbed out of the scaffolding. Four firefighters tried to pull him back to no avail. Liang's shirt was pulled off and fell, and fell onto the pavement next to the safety air cushion. The firefighters at the scene immediately performed chest compressions for Liang Lingjie to rescue Liang Lingjie. There were also citizens who were present shouting and cheering, and Kwong Junyu, who witnessed the process, cried with excitement.

Liang Lingjie was sent to Ruttonjee Hospital for treatment and was confirmed dead at the age of 35, becoming the first victim of the anti-amendment movement. The police found two suicide notes in Liang Lingjie's belongings, one of which was an indictment. In an interview with Apple Daily, Liang's parents pointed out that the government has forced Hong Kong people to be so helpless, and the rant is an expression of anger at the unkind and unjust government, "Hong Kong is sick, it is the sorrow of seven million people, and it is also the sorrow of the next generation. "They also hope that young people will not be too excited and will not follow in the footsteps of their sons.
