Guess what soup ABC soup is?

ABC Soup is a simple classic for me that touches one of my hometown flavors.

Isn't it hard to imagine what kind of soup ABC soup is? But I believe that most Malaysian Chinese should be quite familiar with ABC soup. It's a very simple and delicious soup, usually with carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, and onions, and sometimes with a few pieces of corn or ribs. As for why it is called ABC soup, I searched and found most of the explanations:

Because it is rich in vitamins A, B and C
Vitamin A: from carrots and tomatoes Vitamin B: from corn and potatoes Vitamin C: from tomatoes, potatoes and onions

Another explanation also found is:

Because it's kind of like Malaysian Shaved Ice ( Air Batu Campur - ABC for short)
ABC soup is like shaved ice, there are many different ingredients in it, and the color of the finished product is also very bright and beautiful, so it is called the ABC of the soup industry~

Is it possible to call it ABC because it is so simple? Like the concept of as easy as ABC? ? ( ̄▽ ̄)"

When I was a child, I used to eat. Sometimes the food was dry and it would be difficult to swallow. If it was accompanied by soup, it would be eaten faster. So in the past, there was often soup on the table in my family. In my impression, the soup that my mother often cooks is ABC soup, probably because it is really simple and delicious, with rich ingredients, it feels nutritious and healthy.

I remember that sometimes my mother would make a charcoal to cook the soup and let it boil slowly. At this time, a few melons of us will follow along to join in the fun and help (reverse) together. Competing with each other to start a fire, to help fan the air, and finally make the charcoal all over the place (every time we treat the charcoal as snowflakes, and then "accidentally" fan it too hard to make it fly XD) . Sometimes when I forget, I wipe the sweat dripping from my face with the hand that has held the charcoal, and turn into a small army soldier !

After being tossed to the end by us, the charcoal was finally started up, so our next (self-determined) task is to make sure that it will not go out! Even though my mother had already driven me to do my homework, our little melons would still "inadvertently" go around the charcoal stove to secretly fan it a few times. Sometimes there is still enough charcoal, but I add charcoal to the furnace again and again, and the small fire that my mother wants is directly upgraded to a raging fire XD! ! ! Keep an eye out for my mom's laser eyes throughout the process, make sure to get away before you get caught, or you'll be waiting for the vine whip!

When I grew up, my mother began to teach me how to cook, and this ABC soup was the first home-cooked dish I learned to cook.

I used to have very few opportunities to show my skills at home. On the one hand, I used to use less seasonings (sometimes my mother would tease me that I made them for patients...), on the other hand, because I The older brother is very interested in cooking. When there are two chefs at home, it is naturally not my turn to cook, so I didn't know many dishes except ABC soup before. When I went to college, I left my family and my familiar hometown to a strange place. Whenever I felt homesick, I would cook a big pot of ABC soup full of nostalgia and drink it to my heart’s content for days~~~

Okay, after the gossip, let's briefly explain how to make ABC soup!

 Material:

3 carrots, 2 potatoes, 2 onions, 1 tomato, 2 corns
Carrots, potatoes, onions and tomatoes are cut into pieces, and the corn is segmented and fried in a pan

Cut the carrots, potatoes, onions and tomatoes into cubes and the corn into sections, then drop them all off the pan and fry them a little. In fact, it is ok not to fry, but carotene is fat-soluble, so I usually fry it with oil first.

Don't put the tomatoes in the first place, keep half of them and add them in when they are about to be cooked at the end, so that some tomatoes will not completely dissolve into the soup.

Stir fry until it is slightly fragrant, add boiling water, and start to cook the soup

After frying them a little, add boiling water to 8 points full, and cook with medium and low heat for about half an hour to an hour.

When the potatoes are soft, you can add the remaining tomatoes, then add salt and a little white pepper according to taste, and finally let it boil for 5 to 10 minutes.

You see, isn't it super easy?

This is the true face of ABC soup! It looks so appetizing haha~

Appetizing and delicious ABC soup

ABC soup has a natural sweetness thanks to carrots, corn and onions, plus the slightly tartness from tomatoes always gives me an appetite! Even if I just use it to make rice, I feel satisfied~

ABC soup introduction is complete!
