Taipei Style Bookstore Day Reading
Last time, @IrisChen 's article on walking around independent bookstores in Taipei introduced a lot of featured bookstores. After reading it, I wanted to introduce my favorite places. It took a lot of time to delay. Today, I will pay off the manuscript debt.
Shopping and collecting stores is one of my personal interests, and style bookstores are one of my personal pocket collections. I especially like characteristic stores with secret locations and few people. This time, I will introduce a few bookstores in downtown Taipei or Reading space, the list of pockets is very long, deducting some of the duplicate stores in the article @IrisChen, I wrote the list that I often hang out with as follows, there are some more niche, or outside the Taipei city, I will share with you another day. .
Garden City Style Bookstore
In the three-in-one compound space of bookstores, art galleries, and cafes in the alleys next to Shuanglian, it publishes books on architecture, landscape, photography, urban design and environmental art, and gradually introduces books on humanities, literature, art and life. It is one of the important Xiaozhi bookstores in Taipei, and it stocks a lot of interesting independent publications from Taiwan and overseas.
The artists in the gallery’s co-exhibition are also very interesting, and there are often interesting and eye-catching exhibitions. From time to time on Friday nights, I specially rush to see the exhibition an hour before closing time. I have encountered many beautiful papers here. Art works, pop-up books, bean books, streetscape paintings, prints, Xiaozhi, and even the exhibition of Porcelain (Jin Ji), President Chen himself also collected many precious old books, and recently held a film poster vinyl exhibition in Taipei Light Spot. Those who like old books can also follow the FB fan page of the president's ancient book , and often see beautiful books.

Wang Dahong Shuxuan
Wang Dahong Bookstore is located on the south side of the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, next to the restored and reconstructed former residence of the architectural poet Wang Dahong in Taipei Fine Arts Park. There are many paintings designed by architect Wang, as well as many architecture-related books. In addition, Wang Dahong is on the wall. The designed image of the Moon Landing Monument, and there is a 3D VR reality to experience the feeling of stepping on the Moon Landing Monument. This monument is a work designed by an architect who is obsessed with the moon but has not been implemented. Site in the park.
The store provides free cucumber lemonade, which is said to be the favorite drink of architect Wang Dahong, who loves cucumbers. Last weekend, I learned that the joint afternoon tea combination of Wang Dahong Shuxuan X North American Pavilion X Two months per year X Pinjiajiapin will be launched, using ingredients such as finger lemon, green basil, and gherkin that symbolize the greenness of early summer, plus the North American Pavilion. The architectural shape of the building is a porcelain plate designed by the concept, extending art and architecture to the dining table, and you can enjoy the fun and greenery in the midsummer.
The door opposite the Shuxuan is the relocated and restored former residence of the architect - Wang Dahong Architectural Theater, with a half-closed door and a towering wall. The guide volunteers are very enthusiastic. Some visitors are not sure if they can visit the stronghold in front of the door, and they look a little shyly. After a long time, I left again, hoping to add an obvious indicator in front of the door so that more people can bravely walk in and see the ingenuity of architectural poets on the design of their own houses.

Zhenshuxuan
Zhenshuxuan is a bookstore operated by the Qinmei Cultural and Educational Foundation of Taichung's well-known construction company Qinmei Group. It is located next to Exit 6 of Daan Forest Park. It is a quiet bookstore and cafe with a large greenery of the park. The entrance is somewhat hidden, on the second floor. The floor-to-ceiling windows facing Xinyi Road offer a view of the green Daan Forest Park, and cooperated with Li Huijing of the Unicorn Project to select books. Most of the books are architecture, history, art, language, food, and culture. The bookstore is also furnished. Books of extraordinary value allow guests to read, the environment is elegant and tranquil, and it has a private salon feel. In the entrance elevator, there is a gorgeous sci-fi light show that seems to travel through time and space. Even the staircase or the corridor space is full of ingenuity, and a large number of works by young artists are arranged to support the cutting-edge local art.
There are not many places in Taipei that offer Belgian coffee (Belgium is quite expensive), but there are at least ten groups of brightly lit coffee bars lined up at the bar. Take your first date to a fake breakout to show off your worth. (laugh)

Athenian Art Bookstore
Aten Art Bookstore should be the largest art bookstore in Taipei. It is located on Renai Road Boulevard, opposite to the Taiwan Contemporary Culture Experiment Field, which was originally the Air Force Headquarters. There are also exhibition spaces on the second and third basement floors. Young artists often hold exhibitions. They are very friendly to emerging artists. The design of the bookstore environment is very European. There are also cafes and some exhibition space blocks in the store. Art fairs, film appreciation, art lectures and other activities are also held from time to time. At the end of February 2017, it closed and suspended operations, which caused regret in the cultural circles. Fortunately, it resumed business again in September of the same year and continued to serve readers.
Next to it are the famous Zhongnan Restaurant in Taipei, Duoai Indian Curry, the now-closed Zhu Kee Pie Porridge Renai Main Store (I have eaten here several times), and the Vice President's Residence (May 2020) After March 20, Vice President Lai Qingde moved into the Wanli Residence), viewing exhibitions, visiting bookstores, and eating food can all be done within a 3-minute walk.

National Bookstore (Songjiangmen City)
National Bookstore is a bookstore specializing in the sale of government publications. Currently, the Ministry of Culture entrusts Xiuwei Information to operate stores and online services. You need to find professional books published by public universities in Taiwan or public museums, art galleries, county and city government bureaus, and local cultural centers. The best place for publications.
The National Bookstore store is located on the first floor of the Zhiqing Building at the Minsheng Songjiang intersection in Taipei (the same building as the Central News Agency and other units), and it is close to the Tiangong MRT Station, but few people know the store base. There are few good goods, such as the stock items of some popular government publications in the past. I have picked up picture albums or catalogues that have sold out of stock at popular exhibitions in museums or art galleries several times.
Every year at the Taipei Book Fair, I will definitely set aside enough time to take a closer look at the government publications and see what little-known books and magazines or amazing cultural and creative products are published. The National Bookstore also has two distribution units, Sanmin Bookstore and Wunan Culture. It is recommended for those who want to find unpopular or out-of-stock books and periodicals to hunt for treasures when they have time. (Sanmin Bookstore also saved me several times, thanks to the heavenly boss Liu Zhenqiang)

City State Study Room (City State Bookstore, Shang Zhou Study Room)
The Chengbang Study Room is on the first floor of the National Bookstore across the Minsheng East Road. The decoration is luxurious. It is often the place where the Chengbang Group or the Shangzhou Publishing House hold lectures on new books. The building has the office space of the Chengbang and Shangzhou. The Chengbang Bookstore, which sells books, is now available. It has been moved to the 7th floor, and the Shangzhou study is on the 4th floor. I have only participated in a few events here in the past. After the bookstore moved upstairs, I have not been able to visit it, but as the study salon on the first floor, it is really a place for lectures and activities. It is very comfortable and powerful. If you happen to want to participate in the activities of the city-state group publishing house, I recommend a visit.

Micro reading book
Wei Er Reading Book is located in the alleys of the elite area of Taipei City's East District. There are only two books in the store. The name of the store "Wei Er" also comes from this idea. "Small, but not unique." The style is the main axis of book selection. The Yamato nation is a nation that knows how to live according to Lent, so many books and groceries in the store are also related to the texture of life, such as tea, coffee, seasonal travel, food culture, etc.
I have listened to many lectures here, most of which are related to the history of Japanese occupation of Taiwan, including macro research on the Taiwanese community, public building construction in Taiwan, women's life in the modern era, and changes in the streets around Taipei City. It is also very interesting to have both popular and academic, and to cut into various studies of Taiwan history from an approachable perspective.

Kishuan Literature Forest
Kizhouan Literature Forest is located in the south of Taipei City. During the Japanese occupation period, it was a well-known Japanese restaurant in Taipei, Kizhouan. At that time, it often received dignitaries and dignitaries, and there were entertainers performing in the restaurant. The current Kizhouan is run by the Taiwan Literature Development Foundation and is already one of the major centers of literary activity in Taipei. The Mandarin Daily, a leader in children's literature, was established in the south of the city, and the southern area of the city, where the rioters and writers were constantly flowing, nurtured the growth of Chinese literature in Taiwan after the war.
Literary lectures are often held on the second floor of the Kishuan New Building or in the historic building. The exhibitions or lectures are often related to the themes of literature and history in the south of the city, and rare books, author manuscripts, letters and other texts are displayed from time to time. The first floor of the new building The forest bookstore often has a writer's signature book, a cup of tea, a good book, and a literary private kitchen with the style of the teahouse author's recipe when you are hungry. After dinner, you sit or lie down in the Japanese-style monuments, breathing the fragrance of the tatami. Walking in the forest with the breeze blowing on the river bank, what a pleasant life.

lion star
Lion Star is a bookstore gallery space operated by Lion Art Group. It is located on the 2nd floor of the building next to Zhongshan MRT Station. With Lion Art's roots in Taiwan for many years, it often cooperates with many Taiwanese and overseas artists for exhibitions. , and a publishing department publishes art books. The bookstore space is decorated with many plants and gardens. With the four aspects of exhibitions, books, coffee and miscellaneous goods, it creates a humanistic space that is quiet in the midst of the hustle and bustle.
The exhibition materials are diverse and refined, and there are often art experiences, workshops, lectures, etc. During the exhibition and experience activities, the art collection has become close and common to the people. I myself have collected several small prints, calligraphy, and art books. I recommend it to friends who want to get started with art collection.
