This book is wonderful, and I think it might be a little more practical to discuss the writer's mindset first than some books that teach writing skills. Of course, this is a textbook, you can't say it's easy and enjoyable to read, because it's very academic, but I think it's really practical!

It's fun to say, I studied adult education in graduate school, and then of course I need to write a thesis, and the subject I want to write is a writer, so I started looking for relevant literature.

At this time, I discovered an interesting thing. First, there are actually a lot of research reports on works or on a single writer or a specific type of writer in the Faculty of Letters. , ideas, life experience, and so on, but to be honest, it is not the scope of adult education to study.

Regarding the writing itself, there are many studies in the College of Education, but they are all aimed at students, mainly on the evaluation of composition, but I am studying adult education. As a result, the current adult-related writing research is too rare, and all are Research on "English Writing"...

Otherwise, look for psychological or psychiatric research. After all, narrative therapy is also a popular treatment method. In recent years, there have been many related books and courses, so there should be information...

Not many results...

Then there is the part of the elderly. In recent years, it has become popular to conduct life story courses for the elderly in the community, and there is still a little information.

But my focus is on writers...

In short, the process of this literature review continues, and there is not much at present.

But it was interesting to see this book, because what I was looking for was writing-related materials, and it wasn't just casual writing, but the kind that had "publishing pressure". I mean, I want to target research on debut writers.

As a result, this reference book for writing papers has unexpectedly become a source of information, or in other words, it is the most relevant book I can find so far.

It’s fun to say that in recent years, the number of books that teach people to write has exploded, and many of them are aimed at publishing. This may be related to the development of the Internet. Many people have stepped into physical publishing from the Internet, especially some financial writers. (Financial books are currently the main selling force). Online courses have also exploded since the start of the epidemic. Now most of the major online learning platforms can find writing-related courses, and the prices are not cheap.

But there is no related research... I mean, the curriculum for teaching adult writing is probably developed by each school itself, unlike students' writing teaching that has various development theories.

On the contrary, there are a lot of researches on the process of writing a thesis for graduate students, which is full of fun. It seems that everyone thinks that writing a thesis is very painful, so there are a lot of graduate students who directly use the process of writing a thesis as the theme of the thesis...

However, this is a well-organized reference book. I don’t just mean writing papers. After all, the title of the book says “thesis writing as an example.” It’s just an example. "The writing is not for fun, but really to come up with a work that is on the table.

This is somewhat similar to the "debut novelist" which is the subject of my research.

Of course, because I am a debut novelist myself! Write about people and things you are familiar with.

This book is wonderful, and I think it might be a little more practical to discuss the writer's mindset first than some books that teach writing skills. Of course, this is a textbook, you can't say it's easy and enjoyable to read, because it's very academic, but I think it's really practical!

To be honest, it may not be very helpful for graduate students to write a thesis and read this book, because you have already boarded the ship, and you can only get off the ship next, just to see where you get off the ship.
