Walking at the station (11): Double-rail GO Tour Peony

Peony Station has been in operation since 1922, and it has just turned 100 years. During the Japanese occupation period, it was named "Wudankeng Station", and it was renamed "Peony" in 1964. If it develops early, there will naturally be settlements around it. However, if you compare Peony’s next stop, Shuangxi, Shuangxi has been a land and water transshipment center since the Qing Dynasty. There are many cargo ships going and trading. Of course, the size and population of the market are much larger than that of Peony.

Today, you set off from Peony Station and set foot on the old street in front of you, although the old houses, small shops and street paintings by local artists are worth stopping and watching. However, when you reach the end of the old street, Qingyun Palace, it is less than 400 meters short, and the tour is over immediately, which seems to be a bit monotonous. Most of the tourists who came and went started from Peony Station and were about to head towards Canguangliao Mountain. Almost no one came to Peony Town. When I was planning my itinerary, I once wanted to visit Sandiaoling Station to enrich the itinerary, but wouldn't this go against the original intention of "walking the station" one stop at a time?

So, I opened Google Maps to study carefully, and finally found a way to explore the surrounding areas of Peony from different angles - GO !

At eight o'clock in the morning, my wife and I arrived at Peony Station. First, we took a quick walk around the town, and then we went south along the 102 county road and the industrial road up the Zhuliaokeng.

Not long after we started the road, a sudden rain poured down from the mountains, and we hurried to the Tugong Temple on the side to hide from the rain. A closer look reveals that this temple is actually made of stone. It may be old, and it has been silently guarding the local residents for a long time.

We drank water and had a snack, and just as the rain stopped, we continued on our way up. The air in Zhuliao Keng after the rain is exceptionally fresh and cool. I climbed two kilometers in one breath without knowing it, and didn't take a break until the downhill section. The next section of the road is all downhill. Apart from staying in the Jade Immortal Palace for more than ten minutes, the pace of the two of them is getting faster and faster-nothing else, just because I am hungry...

Walking out of Zhuliaokeng and connecting to the provincial highway Shuanggan Highway, the ten o'clock bright sun urged us to speed up our pace. After walking east for forty minutes, we finally arrived at Sungai Station. Doing the math, we started from Mudan Station and walked here via Zhuliaokeng. We walked a total of 7.4 kilometers, and it took more than two hours to complete the first iron of the "Double Rail GO" - Iron Feet !

Wait a minute, how did you end up at Shuangxi Station?

It is known that Peony Station has the titles of "Peony Bend" and "Peony 120", which means that when the train travels north from Shuangxi Station to Peony Station, there will be a big bend of up to 120 degrees. It is the engineer who built the railway in the early years. In order to overcome the super steep slope in the mountainous area here, and avoid the train going northwards slipping to the south due to insufficient power, the design idea of increasing the radius of the station is ingenious.

Now that you are at Peony Station, how can you experience the "Peony Bend" without taking the train in person? Therefore, I specially arranged the itinerary to walk from Mudan Station to Sungai Station, and then take the train back to Mudan Station.

After having a full meal at the time-honored Su Yixing restaurant in Shuangxi, we boarded the second car of the local train and approached Mudan Station as the train slowly drove down. Perhaps due to the power and smoothness of modern trains, I didn't feel any big bends, but when I got off the train I was startled - the train we were on was clearly leaning towards the platform. Afterwards, a Puyuma, which was passing by without stopping, drove away quickly, and I could clearly see that the car body was also leaning, as if it was flicking its tail.

Leaving Mudan Station, we completed the second railway of "Double Railway GO" - railway !

You're done, now you can take a good look at the peonies.

Around Peony Old Street and on both sides of Peony Creek, many quaint old houses are preserved. Most of the residents are elderly, and they hang out on balconies and squares to hang clothes, or travel through the alleys to visit neighbors.

Although the old street is old, it is also a bit trendy.

There is a local artist Mr. Wu Guqu. He runs a " Guqu Cafe " on the old street. Inside and outside the shop are his paintings and calligraphy works, as well as interviews and newspaper clippings. When we passed by, four or five young people who looked like college students were interviewing Wu Guqu, which showed that he was a well-known local artist.

Wu Guqu's paintings are not only displayed in his coffee house, but also in the entire Peony Town. The two paintings that I personally admire the most are "The Cloth Shop " and " Pork Stall ". With realistic and amusing painting styles, they present visitors with the style of Peony's early years.

At noon, the sun was blazing down again, and it was impossible to see that it had only rained a few hours ago. During the "Iron Feet" trip, we were sweating profusely and our legs were slightly sore, and we wanted to find a place to cool off from the heat. It happened that we walked to the painted wall of the "cloth shop", and the small shop on the wall was the resting place " Clouds and Water Gathering Cups " arranged by me during my trip.

This old house converted coffee shop not only sells coffee, but also serves as a " Peony Old Street Resident Workstation ". Whether it's the ambience, the setting, or the ingenuity of the meal...it's full of ingenuity. At the critical point of fatigue, finding a space where you can completely relax your body and mind, sip ice American style, and look up to enjoy the small lanes that combine old and new ideas outside the window, it is really a great joy in life!

The peony style makes people linger. There is a "Sandiaoling Tunnel Bike Path" nearby. I have not visited it yet. I have seriously considered arranging a trip next time - three irons (iron feet, railways and iron horses) go to visit Peony.
