Perth Diary 521st, WA 13th North Upward Loop
I accidentally picked such a date. At the end of the 2023 fiscal year in Australia, it was the day when I rode in Sichuan and Tibet 10 years ago, and it was also the 3 years when I left the island for camping and fishing.
When planning the itinerary two months ago, there were seven or eight people who planned to go, all of whom were my freediving students. They planned to go all the way by self-driving, fishing and freediving all the way. Finally, when the departure day came, only my wife and I were left to drive. , and another friend flew back and forth for 5 days.
Car rental should be the biggest expense of this itinerary. I originally planned to go back and forth on the 14th, because as the initiator and coach, I was worried about any unexpected incidents. I rented a four-wheel drive with two roof tents and hoped to be able to handle it. In various situations, a total of 2,300 knives for two weeks of car rental plus insurance, etc., is indeed a big expense.
Before leaving, I found that everyone canceled one after another, and I thought about canceling the trip. After all, I have never driven such a long distance. There is only one car. There may be off roads on the road, but now I don’t want to make any mistakes for anything I say. Change, as I once shared, a person’s ability to practice words is his value. No matter what difficulties in the future, you can gain the trust of others in addition to the gains after difficulties. I hope everyone will always be for your own words. responsible.
Before the trip, I only booked the exmouth rac holiday camp for five nights. I didn’t think about how to return after exmouth, and I didn’t think about spending the night there before exmouth. This may be the most unplanned and most arbitrary trip since I grew up. On a previous trip to Japan, I even planned which train to take.
Before departure, I checked which campsites still had space, so I hurriedly booked the kalbarri tasman holiday park on the 17th. Along the way, almost all campsites cost $50 for two people for the camping site.
Calculated in this way, the total cost is about 2300 car rental + 970 postage + 650 camping expenses, which is about 4000 knives.
I stayed on the road for three nights before entering exmouth. The first night was in a small town passing through the road, and the second night was on the way to the camp. I got stuck in the sand at night and opened the roof tent on the spot for a night. On the third day, I stayed at the national park camp, and then stayed in the rac exmouth holiday park for 20-25 days for five nights. Before returning, I decided not to go back the same way, and returned to Perth from the hinterland of Western Australia via the mining town 1,800 kilometers.
I have written several specific travel diaries before, but I really don’t like this journal style of journaling, so I would like to talk about my insights along the way in general.
In general, there are really few people in Western Australia. When I lived in Perth, I didn’t feel that there were so many people. When I went to live in a sparsely populated area for a while and then came back, the feeling was particularly obvious. I still prefer it. In a small town with few people and beautiful scenery, life can be very simple.
In addition, the people on the road are very enthusiastic, perhaps because there are few people on the road. Everyone sits in the car and drives on the expressway. When they merge, they will wave to each other. This impresses me deeply. There will also be cars passing by when parking on the road Asking if there is a problem makes me feel more of the beautiful side of human nature.
For example, on the second night when we headed to the national park road camp with heavy wind and heavy rain, we got stuck in the sand and stayed overnight. The people who passed by the next day would be very friendly and help us get out of trouble.
When staying in the camp, everyone will greet you friendly. Maybe this is the more important camping culture in Australia besides the perfect camping infrastructure.
I will also have a lot of sighs, lamenting that the proportion of elderly people who travel in RVs is large, and young people are more likely to drive four-wheel drive vehicles and set up tents. Maybe this is closely related to the financial strength of people of different age groups, but I am indeed amazed by Australia. People's love for camping life.
The life of Australians is really easy. In addition to high salaries, there are many holidays. The local workplace culture will not encroach on private living space, so that locals can choose a very good balance between life and work.
The hard-working people seen here are almost all Asian immigrants. This may be more of our cognitive and behavioral methods brought to us by our old living habits and harsh living environment, which makes us worry too much about potential risks that have not yet occurred. Anxiety, or equating material accumulation with happiness itself.
And material accumulation is endless. Once you embark on this runway, you will miss most of the happy moments.
This is also one of the reasons why I still choose road trip because of my limited pockets. No one’s money is enough. Our money will always have a more worthy place. At some point in the future, if we use all We all look forward to the future, and we miss the present moment. This is also the life principle I learned living in the Philippines.
All the episodes in life can give us different life experience, even if we try our best to avoid the occurrence of episodes, but the episodes still keep appearing, we can only start to change the way we face the episodes.
For example, on the night when I was stuck in the sand, it was windy and rainy outside, and I parked awkwardly in the middle of the road. At first I was very annoyed, and even thought about just sitting in the car all night, but then I asked myself, can I change my life? The status quo, no, do I need to sleep at night, yes, so I opened the tent and made the best choice I could.
I hardly went to any check-in points along the way. I am really not interested in these things. Fortunately, I caught a grouper between 35-40kg on the second day of staying in exmouth, but because of this, I ate more than a dozen Even though 1/4 of the fish was distributed to strangers in the camp on the way, they did not finish the fish until they got home.
Another point that feels more profound may be thinking about the marriage partner. The alone time along the way is all a space for communication with the partner.
Many husband and wife relationships around me have actually turned into roommate relationships. Many inner topics are no longer discussed, and they are hidden deep in their hearts. They just live together and help each other in life. This is not the marriage relationship I want. The way of getting along with my wife is also the same as the attitude of sharing articles on my official account. Some recent episodes in life have also made my wife start to think and share her thoughts on life with me, which makes our getting along more interesting.
In fact, the relationship between husband and wife should be a companionship that encourages each other to grow up. If it becomes a way of pulling each other and consuming emotions, perhaps a person's growth is more valuable. A person's loneliness is the truth of life, and it is impossible to deal with the relationship between two people without experiencing a person's loneliness.
The point of view that I export the most to my wife is: everyone can only rely on themselves; believe that others should never surpass themselves.
This trip gave us more time to communicate in depth, which I think is one of the greatest meanings.
The journey is very tiring, and all kinds of emergencies and difficulties encountered along the way. What impresses me more is not the scenery, but the heart-warming feeling brought by the help of people around me and the joy after solving the problem. It is the epitome of life, so although the scenery is beautiful, it cannot replace the profound experience of meaning in life.
The journey itself is meaningless, but what we see and hear during the journey and the reflection after experience is what we should pursue.
Seeing as many different landscapes as possible is the source of our thinking.
Like my work? Don't forget to support and clap, let me know that you are with me on the road of creation. Keep this enthusiasm together!
