Is NFT selling marketing or art?

NFTs have been produced since before NFTs became popular in Taiwan. At that time, I made a few paintings as a hobby.
After the NFT boom in Taiwan, I originally hoped to see other like-minded creators, but whether it is foreign or domestic, it seems that NFT is not managed as a work of art, but a stock that can make money. I will buy it if I can, depending on the market value rather than the artistic value.

First of all, I am also a collector, but I mainly collect physical art. When we collect physical art, we do take into account factors such as market price and whether we can make money when we sell it later. This will take into account the creator’s background, art The creation time point of the artwork itself is the early stage or the later stage, the market price of the artwork itself, and the artistic value of the artwork itself.

The most difficult of them should be the artistic value, which is a somewhat subjective category. Of course, it can also be the sum of the other elements mentioned above. However, when I observe the NFT transaction, the so-called artistic value seems to be about to disappear. It's purely an evaluation based on the public price.

I won't criticize the buying and selling culture like NFT, because there are many such trade cultures in the art collectors world. I don't look at the artwork itself, I only look at the public price at the auction to bid. It's just that my original expectations for NFT were quite high. high, why? I give some examples of the differences between the creation of physical art and NFT art.

Physical art can be sculpture, acrylic paint, oil painting, photography, and watercolor. Among them, oil painting is the best auction. This market orientation makes many artists use oil painting as the main creative medium. Although acrylic paint is cheap, it is very popular. There is not much value in the eyes of the old collectors (Miaozai, how important is the medium? Well, the old man thinks it is very important)

Although there are not many artists in this generation who will starve to death, these paints, canvases, studios, brushes and equipment can honestly eat the economic strength of young people, especially if you have created 20 or 30 paintings, where should you put them? There has to be a space to place and store it. This is all money. What you are waiting for is that you will be photographed by a collector one day, and then you will expand your network of Tibetans step by step, or you will get an auction in your lifetime. Neither the waiting period nor the actual cost of creation is small.

NFT, he broke through this creative limitation (it is estimated that everyone has a little concept, so I won't explain it much). Naturally, you can also create oil paintings and scan them into NFT, but it provides a platform to ensure that artists can sell, It is equivalent to helping the artist expand a sales opportunity, especially if the collectors have different attributes, the artist's creation can be more diverse, and the media will not be a limitation. But the collection I see now is almost collecting the works of celebrities, but not the works of artists, because celebrities themselves have traffic, that is, they can be powerful enough in marketing, what about this group of artists? They do not have traffic themselves, nor do they have much resources for marketing. Some of these celebrities are teams, but do ordinary art creators have them? It's just being displayed. No one buys it because the artwork is not good, but because of lack of marketing.

No matter where you go, marketing is everywhere, and even works that require artistic value can become less important because of high traffic.

I hope that the artists who are still creating in NFTs will not be discouraged. It is indeed the normal state of the world that everything needs marketing. I hope you have a team that can help you spend your brains on marketing, so that you can continue to devote yourself to creation. I also hope that friends who focus on NFT can support young artists when they see good works.
