About Juno

Juno is a fully interoperable smart contract network built with the Cosmos SDK launched as a hub in the Cosmos ecosystem. Juno's goal is to offload the computational burden of smart contracts from the Cosmos Hub itself, which can focus on the core activities, security, etc. of the wider Cosmos ecosystem.

In many ways, Juno enables the Cosmos Hub to remain trusted to be neutral while mitigating typical L1 barriers such as network congestion and high gas fees. Juno also shares a similar set of stakeholders with Cosmos, so much so that it decided to airdrop 47% of its token supply to ATOM holders. Airdrops combine incentives with builders to attract and reward them for developing secure smart contracts on Juno.

JUNO assets carry a variety of use cases in the JUNO ecosystem, including securing the proof-of-stake network, key to on-chain governance, serving as the transportation fuel (gas) for all interoperable smart contracts deployed in the ecosystem, various smart contracts Collateral and work tokens in use cases to capture value from dapps (decentralized applications) built on top of JUNO.

CosmoWasm based contracts

Juno is the permissionless neutral home for CosmWasm Interoperable Smart Contracts and InterWasm DAOs. This ecosystem is a pioneer in the development and adoption of CosmWasm. As a first-layer smart contract network, Juno solves the bottlenecks of first-generation smart contracts, namely limited scalability, high deployment and execution costs, and provides a relaxed environment for developers around the world to efficiently deploy scalable, Secure Decentralized Application.

CosmWasm, enables WASM (WebAssembly) virtual machine. WebAssembly allows software written in multiple languages (rust, Go) to run securely on the blockchain. WASM acts as an intermediate language that compiles the language of the developer's choice into a portable virtual machine. This means you can set up a simple, secure, and fast virtual machine to sandbox or partition your application's actions for better testing, security, performance, and speed.

Developers can use it to develop smart contracts programmed in Rust or Go and then compiled to CosmWASM. A core element of Juno is the interoperability aspect, whereby any smart contract developed by developers in Juno is guaranteed to be portable to any other IBC-compatible Cosmos network.

The mainnet will be launched on October 1, 2021.

Token Economy and Incentives

Ecological Incentive

During the 12-year period (12 issues), the maximum supply of 185.562.268 JUNO will be reached.

After 12 years, the rewards program ends and JUNO will become deflationary. At this point, network incentives will primarily come from tx fees from hundreds of dapps deployed on the network, IBC traffic, and staking/airdrops.

roadmap

  • Junoswap is online. The current version 1.0 will be launched on January 13, 2022. There is no incentive, and there will be incentives for the next 2.0 launch.

The location of Juno is as important as osmo and atom. It provides the smart contract platform of cosmos. CosmWasm currently supports rust for writing contracts, and will support other languages in the future. It is currently the same as the languages of solana and terra.
