The Zhongyuan Festival is a Taoist festival. Every year on the 15th day of the seventh lunar month, it is the birthday of the Diguan Emperor, also known as the Diguan Birthday. Taoism worships the three gods of heaven, earth and water, also known as the three officials. In Taoism, Zhongyuan Festival is regarded as the day of forgiveness of sins by local officials.
