Good night,

Penghu, Taiwan, recently reported the sadness of the sudden death of sea turtles in captivity in temples , and in Kume Island, Okinawa, Japan, 30 endangered green loggerhead turtles were recently "necked" incidents. Police said the scars on the turtles' necks appeared to have been caused by knife cuts, and they were found dying, entangled in fishing nets and unable to move.

Although the truth of the case is still a mystery, this incident is likely to be the extreme means used by fishermen to unravel the sea turtles entangled in fishing nets. The green loggerhead turtle is an endangered species recognized by Japan and internationally, but it is not covered by Japanese conservation regulations. The green loggerhead turtle prefers to feed on farmed seagrass and often damages fishing nets, causing headaches for fishermen and once again highlighting the dilemma between human development and nature conservation.

The Indian Congress elected Draupadi Murmu as the next president on the 21st. The 64-year-old is not only the second female president in Indian history, but also the first president from an indigenous tribe. Although according to the Indian government system, the real executive power is controlled by the prime minister, and the president is only a symbolic position, but for Mumu's hometown where there is still no running water, her election is still far-reaching for the whole of India.

Indigenous people account for nearly 10% of India's population, and have long been in a marginalized position in the social and economic situation. Mumm, who was a teacher, is known for her gentleness and humility. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) recommended her to run for president this time. The party's "image project" to win over Aboriginal and lower caste voters and expand its support base.

The House of Representatives passed the Right to Contraception Act with 228 votes in favor and 195 votes against on the 21st, ensuring people have the opportunity to buy and use contraceptives or devices. Compared with the Respect for Marriage Act, which passed the House of Representatives recently and guarantees same-sex marriage , the Contraceptive Rights Act has only been supported by 8 Republican House members, and it may be more difficult to successfully pass the Senate.
