Women Wandering in the World 8: Passionate islands and women's "belonging" in this world
After school in this issue, the signal tower will be rotated by Mobugu, who is about to start wandering around the world, and Damei, who just returned from wandering in Phuket in July.
This is the first time that our "Women Wandering in the World" series has included a contribution from a woman who has become a mother. The first time I read the letter, I felt the vitality rushing to my face, like the enthusiasm of Phuket, Thailand. It's as exciting as the sea breeze. In East Asian society, the identity of being a "mother" does not bind her with the ropes of mainstream society, and she still retains fresh perception and exploration of self-identity.
In addition to the hot and funny island story, Da Mei (the name is also hot!) also explores why our series uses the word "loitering" and the limitations of "belonging" as a woman. This reminds me of a saying that has been widely circulated on Chinese social media recently: " Nostalgia is an odyssey belonging to men, and escape is the epic carved into women's bodies ."
Woolf has a more widely circulated saying: As a woman, I have no country. As a woman, I want no country. As a woman, my country is the whole world.
As a woman, I don't want and don't want to belong to any one country or culture. Because behind surrender is subordination, and after settlement is down. Behind wandering is indeed full of turmoil and uncertainty, but it makes women like a swimming fish, who can regard the whole world as their own sea area, instead of being gradually tightened and ready to take all Females are caught in captivity in fishing nets.
In the Central Plains Asian culture, the wandering and migrating lifestyle of nomadic groups in the past was considered backward and barbaric. However, in Scott's book "The Art of Escaping Domination", he found that the seemingly backward groups were not backward, and they chose a different way of life and production from the Central Plains Valley in the hope of gaining freedom from being ruled .
The freedom not to be ruled and the self not to be enslaved are the ultimate purpose of wandering . The "Wanderer" platform we are working on is to provide such a possibility for ourselves and for all those who want to gain freedom and self. And this "Women Wandering in the World" series hopes to show everyone of the same kind that such a possibility can happen in daily life through the real and vivid cases of each woman.
Go to the islands, go to Europe, go to the mountains and dense forests, there should be brave women wandering wantonly in every charming corner of the world.
Next, please enter the beautiful island and her wandering journey with Da Meili.
Mobugu, Overlord Flower, Admiralty Jar:
Hello, three anchors after school, this is a contribution from Dameili. I went to Phuket in mid-July to "wander" and when I came back, I ignited the desire to share with you.
I used to listen to podcasts and read Newsletter articles, but I always felt that I was just a listener, not a participant. But when I came back from Phuket, I opened my mailbox and received two letters from women wandering around the world one after another. As I read and read, I felt inspired, and suddenly realized that I was also a woman who had just wandered outside the world. The world gained strength and awareness (even if it wasn't my solo wandering, it was a family vacation with a baby, but got out and saw). Before I set off for Thailand, the inefficiency and internal friction at work had pushed me to the brink of a small collapse, so I decided to hang out for a while and wait until I came back from vacation. Facts have proved that it is really useful to play badly. In addition to recovering a lot of mood and energy and being motivated, there are also other people who have to come out to solve some problems first, and some of the problems have resolved themselves over time.
After confirming the itinerary to Thailand, many of the feedbacks I got were unsurprisingly that it is not safe to go to Thailand, and it is easy to be trafficked and drugged. I have read too much news, and I am a little bit worried. Here, I would like to thank many podcast anchors who went to Thailand for vacation and shared their travel experiences after the outbreak, which gave me peace of mind. My own feelings after a week of travel are all love&peace. Thailand is a tourist country and a Buddhist country, and ordinary people are very warm and friendly (except that there are often motorbikes whizzing by on the road, which is a little bit dangerous). Thailand is indeed full of marijuana shops, but I have never met a person who seemed to be high and mentally disturbed.
As soon as I got out of the gate of Phuket Airport and waited for the bus, I saw many sparrows on the grass, jumping around people's feet, looking fearless. A little bird who has never experienced the elimination of the four pests really does not understand the horror of human beings. When we arrived at the villa we rented (many locals in Phuket Island have built “homesteads” in villas for rent or sale, so when you go to Phuket to live in a hotel, you can also rent this kind of villa. The villa we rented is from China. People bought it and contracted it to the operating company for management), there are a lot of mosquitoes, but the mosquitoes in Thailand are so stupid and easy to fight, you can catch one as soon as you reach out. It feels that animals and even "pests" live more easily in such a country. On the way out of the airport, the first intuitive feeling is that it is poor, broken, but free. After changing the phone card in Thailand, I can see the details of various countries in the world on my mobile phone map. I can also use apps such as Youtube and Facebook that people all over the world can use!
Coming to Phuket is said to be a leisure and vacation trip, but I am really not a vacation personality, so the focus is still to play more and experience more. I tried various island sports for seven days. The highlight is diving in the sea, including three meals a day, two deep dives and one snorkeling, and there are unlimited underwater photos and videos. A talent is in the early 1,000 yuan, which is no better than floating a fish 50 meters off the coast of Sanya for a while. I didn't even look at it and it cost 500 yuan. The bottom of the sea is a quiet and slow world. Watching groups of small fish shuttle, the only sound is the gurgling sound of spitting out bubbles. Feel the breath and slowly float upwards, and slowly exhale and slowly sink. These experiences will make people gradually fall in love with the ocean, connect with the ocean, and resonate with marine life at the same frequency. This is very different from surfing, feeling the wind and waves on the surface of the sea. In addition to diving, I also experienced other projects. There is no strict age limit for various extreme projects in Thailand. Shooting, driving mountain bikes, riding jet skis, ziplines, parachuting, you can participate as long as you think you can . I took my mother to ride a jet ski for half an hour, bumping up and down in the waves, getting wet but having fun. There is no pull net at the seaside. Although there are reminders from security officers, you can basically swim freely in the sea. Russian mothers (many Russians in Phuket, it is said that they escaped from the domestic war) threw their children in the sea and basked in the sun on the beach, which made Chinese mothers speechless.
I met a lot of women from Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia in Phuket, and they really have no anxiety about their appearance. Many people are wearing shorts, camisoles, tube top skirts, swim rings, and bye-bye meat, all of which are cheerfully exposed, and no one will feel uncomfortable. Everyone is naked without makeup, basking in the sun wantonly, and don't mind tanning or spots. The ones in sun protection suits and heavy make-up are almost certainly Chinese. Everyone here is still very enthusiastic and sincere. The delivery man we ordered got lost, and the doorman of the villa couldn’t speak English at all. He also took a translation software and helped us answer the phone for half an hour. Facing the roaring motorcycles, I hesitated to cross the road. A beautiful Thai lady warmly took my wrist and led me across the road. People who buy things also tell the truth about the price, and the price is clearly marked and they do not accept bargaining. A Chinese who has lived in Phuket for many years said that she has never locked her car and never lost anything in Thailand. On the contrary, if you encounter compatriots who take the initiative to strike up a conversation, you should be careful, and you may be cheated.
Living alone in Thailand is characterized by the well-developed transgender industry, and I did not miss the famous "Simon Show" in Phuket. Except for a few "actresses" whose facial contours are not natural and look a bit like men, most of them are quite beautiful, bright and moving. Moreover, compared with ordinary women, her limbs are slender and slender, and her facial features are more three-dimensional and profound. Every "actress" stepped on high-heeled shoes of more than ten centimeters, singing and dancing enthusiastically, even if they could not understand the language, the whole process was very attractive, and the content of the performance was very international. The scale of the performance is also very large, and the free-spiritedness made me from the mainland of the motherland a little too excited. It is incredible that Thailand can tolerate the existence of so many transgender people. Although transgender people do not have a high status in Thailand, if they are placed in some East Asian countries, they may not be able to survive as a person. In order to make a living, boys choose to change their gender, and society can accept them and provide them with some ways to earn income, which is very rare. And our extensive and profound Chinese world can't even create a slightly respectful vocabulary to call them. It is shameful to call them "monsters".
Our itinerary arranger in Phuket (helping to book accommodation, arrange pick-up vehicles, book scenic spots and event tickets) is a girl from Beijing. She fell in love with Phuket 8 years ago when she and her husband traveled to Phuket. They both quit their jobs and moved to Phuket. Settled in Phuket and gave birth to two daughters in Thailand. My daughter attends an international school on the island, and the primary school focuses on cultivating hobbies and playing. She said that if the husband and wife stayed in China, they would not have chosen to have children. Now that the family has escaped the involution in Beijing, they can really experience life and life. Her WeChat profile picture is holding an elephant intoxicated with happiness. She was the first real escape case I encountered, and it also gave me more courage to escape and rebel. During the trip, I also met a Fujian girl who brought her baby to the summer camp alone. Because she was alone, she was often arranged to participate in activities with a large group of us when the baby went to the summer camp. In the past, I was a person with a strong sense of distance and boundaries, and people who were not familiar with me would not take the initiative to talk to me. I don’t know if it’s because of being warmed by the sun and the beach, or because I’ve received too much education from girls help girls recently, I even took the initiative to encourage my baby to make friends with her baby, and even invited her to join us for dinner and diving trips.
Before, I wondered why the title of this series is called "Women Wandering the World". Compared with words such as travel, wandering, wandering, and exploring, "wandering" has a sense of loneliness and helplessness. At the end of this article, I also finished reading "You Are Like a Bird Flying to Your Mountain". At the end of the book, the author reflected on his own changes, "Has all my study, reading, thinking and travel changed me into A man who no longer belongs anywhere."
The so-called belonging is also a limitation. Our study, reading, thinking and travel have all restructured us, so that we are no longer limited by gender, family, city or even country. We can experience any kind of lifestyle in any corner of the world and feel at ease and happiness. There is no longer a tradition that must be followed, an identity that must be identified, and a hometown that must be returned.
