A year of restarts. Matt City
Matt City essay I have always been the least active. In addition to feeling redundant, there is most of the topics I want to talk about. Because of writing poetry, there are relatively few essays and prose, so I am a little unfamiliar, and I don't know where to start.
But as I've decided now, this year, for me, is a reboot year.
The first time I knew about Matt City was in Wen Hai's documentary introduction. At that time, I was struggling with self-worth in a commercial college. The so-called struggle was nothing but the result of the mediocre rigidity of education and the utilitarianism of the family. I needed a respite, or a chance to prove myself, and Matt City allowed me to find a community of literary creators. In September, I released my first poem "Ferrying" in this community. When I see so many people recognize it, I am grateful. Although we are just strangers in the online world, here we can discuss the same topic, hold grievances for the same thing, and appreciate the same work even though it is meager.
I see some people, originally editors, reporters, professors, or "ordinary people" who usually care about the Chinese world, discussing political issues, ideological revolutions, writing skills, and chicken soup in the Matter City community. Artistic creators are a protective layer. The peaceful and rational atmosphere is unique to the city of Matt. And that's one of the reasons why I decided to drop out of school.
Four months have passed, and I have experienced incomprehension, quarrel, reconciliation and compromise. In the end, when I stepped on the bus home, I felt relieved. I knew that human life cannot be mediocre. A lifetime, because a lifetime is very short, it is when you are young, don't you want to chase your dreams even more?
This year, it is a new starting point. Just like the woodcutter in my writings, the farmland was destroyed and the woodcutter was chopped down instead.
Like my work? Don't forget to support and clap, let me know that you are with me on the road of creation. Keep this enthusiasm together!
