Recently, New York's landmark Times Square electronic big screen broadcast a three-minute special screen at 23:57 in the evening.

Instead of a flashy advertisement for a big name, it was a rippling brown fluid. It lasted only three minutes, and when the clock struck midnight, everything was back to normal.

This is the video "Flesh Wall" commissioned by the Times Square Art Project for the "Midnight Moment" series by video artist Sondra Perry. At night, more than 70 electronic billboards in Times Square magnify the artist's skin so fluidly that you can barely make out what it is.

Sondra Perry's writing has always been about issues of identity, especially black people, black women, and modern technology and identity. "The body loses its actual form, but you might understand what life is, or what identity means when you take away the label of being human," Perry explained.

The work will be on display in Times Square every night from 23:57-00:00 until February 28.
