"The Last Lesson of Anne Wada"
After watching "The Coolest Traveling Companion" (the 2017 movie) in 2018, I am deeply impressed by Agnes and JR's photography eyes and their tender hearts. I like their works very much, not only from an artistic point of view, but also because of the warmth of people in their works.
When I was in high school in my country, I found that I like taking pictures very much. When I was in college, I often took pictures of large-scale school events. After I left the society, I also took photos of silhouettes and took commercial photos for a while, so I took good photos or videos. Not good, I have my own subjective opinions, haha.
And Agnes and JR's work is really different. After watching "The Coolest Traveling Companion", I also followed the social media of the two artists, and I not only saw the work more often, but also saw the way they are people. But it's easier to get in touch with JR, because he often uses the community to share his creations and life.
Agnes has been creating for many years. She has many famous films and documentaries in the European film industry, of course, there are also not so popular; but when she talks about the story behind each image and the new ideas in her head at that time, her expression Still sparkling like a child encountering something new.
Perhaps it is precisely because she loves to create and share that she has been paying attention to the world she sees with her "heart" and then interpreting it in her own way. I was thinking, how can someone who has been watching the pulse of the world grow old?
"Three things are on my mind every day: inspiration, creation, and sharing." - Agnès Varda
It's a pity for me that I really don't know much about French cinema, and the age is not the same as Agnes, so when I watch the documentary, I feel that I am not only knowing Agnes, but also reminiscing about the era that passed away, The world where I don't exist.
I often find it difficult to describe such emotions. How can I "miss" something that I never knew or had? Just like the Zhonghua shopping mall that was demolished before I was born, I obviously have not experienced that era, but when I watched "The Magician on the Flyover" and listened to my parents talking about their impressions of the Zhonghua shopping mall when I was young, I actually "missed" it. From the China Mall. Or the film camera. When I was a child, my family said that the film was too expensive to let us play with the camera. After I started taking pictures, I always used a digital camera, but whenever I saw the loss of the film camera, I also felt an indescribable sense of loss.
