new and old
After reading " The Day When Potato Boy" Becomes "Potato" from @Menuet, I suddenly realized that I had never noticed the changes in life around me.
I agree that immigrants who came to live in Hong Kong from the mainland after the handover are called new Hong Kong people , but I will not call our companions who grew up like this old Hong Kong people because of this. New means different from the past, but has been accepted. When did the people who have always been there start to become old? People who are unwilling to listen to other people's opinions, unwilling to accept new things, and who are self-centered in everything but just watch the leopard, will have a harder time adjusting to their surroundings after a major change in their life (such as immigration). Gradually, they will naturally be eliminated by society. Not all new Hong Kongers are like this. I know people who have a higher level of emotional intelligence than me. Family, education, and growth environment are all important factors in cultivating character.
It is true that life in Hong Kong is constantly changing, but we are only passively standing on the track of change, and we have never deliberately changed anything on our own initiative. In this city, I thought that the "mistress" would be more valued than the "little third" (guess, I didn't), I thought that if Guo Xinming met Guo Keying, she would only praise Guo Keying's bag shape and then change it across the sea bag type. I thought that a bag that can eat enough is called a bag.
Although new words appear between you and me with the arrival of more and more new Hong Kongers, I don't understand why we have to erase the ones we have used since childhood? Of course, there is a literal error, and a change is necessary.
Communication is designed to facilitate understanding of what the other party wants to express. Since its opening, Hong Kong has always been a multicultural place. During the British rule, everyone was accustomed to accepting new people and things with an open mind. Between different cultures, languages, thoughts and beliefs, we can figure out a way of communication that makes everyone feel comfortable and unobtrusive, and we won’t force the minority to obey the majority just because the other party is outsider or a minority. In today's Hong Kong, the number of new immigrants will not be more than the number of native-born us? I have great respect for the communication characteristics of each ethnic group, but why do you always ask me to show the great love of tolerance, to beat the self of yesterday and integrate into the circle that I may not need to touch?
Can't! Everyone has a lot of love, but I don't want to abuse it on a group of people who haven't tried to integrate into the local culture. In many cases, the new and the old are opposed to each other. Whether we have the same roots or not, we are all equal. On the premise that the other party refuses to adapt to the public, do I need to cut myself off in turn? Is there a need for this?
Or some people will say that they have returned for so long, so they need to assimilate and align with the domestic towns. Okay, I can understand and totally agree with this approach. I would also like to remind you why different provinces and cities in China can have their own dialects?
Moreover, the time for Hong Kong has not yet come. If we are correct, we still have half of the time of the two systems left .
I'm a little extreme, sorry. But don't roar, sorry for your soul.
Like my work? Don't forget to support and clap, let me know that you are with me on the road of creation. Keep this enthusiasm together!
