If The Godfather ended in the first episode

After watching the first episode of "The Godfather", even though I knew (with spoilers on the Internet) that Michael would gradually drift away from his wife, but watching him accept the kisses from other people in high spirits and officially become a new generation of Godfather, I felt extremely heartbroken. Excited; even though (again, through online spoilers) I know that Michael's final ending is not very good, but I still look forward to watching the second episode soon, to see him as (continued) He (continued) big (scattered) developed (haired) fist (Charm) feet (force). Unexpectedly, the next two episodes became more and more melancholy. So I was thinking, how would my perception and understanding of the movie "The Godfather" be different without the second and third episodes?

In the first episode of the old godfather, I always felt that if someone accidentally said the wrong thing, they would be killed, and then I found out that the old godfather was very kind. (laughs) As a viewer who doesn't know the history of the mafia, I thought to myself: How come the power of this gang leader is so great that other men who are also old men can kiss and salute to show submission? Even though the old godfather was assassinated later, the family began to fall into crisis, but throughout the first episode, the role of the old godfather exists like a myth, with great powers, in a relatively closed society.

When I watched the first episode, it was like reading a martial arts novel: killing people is a common thing in their world, and this is the law of their world.

Sometimes it feels amazing and interesting that we see the world in fiction and the real world by different standards. The most obvious thing to me is the act of "killing". This is unacceptable behavior in reality, but in video games, novels, movies, etc., it gives us a different perception. (There should be related research articles, for example, we will play some murderous video games, what is the reason behind it.) In short, we will conclude that some behaviors are acceptable in the work, not the same as acceptable in reality. Now some people often criticize the details of some works, one of the reasons behind it is that people have different ideas about whether the public can distinguish the boundaries between works and the real world, such as adult films. Understand their concerns, but don't fully agree. This is another story, let's not talk about it.

Back to the topic, when you watch "The Godfather 1", you won't feel that the real world in the movie is the real world. In the end, Michael killed the boss of the other four families in one fell swoop. The fairy tale color is very strong . (laugh)

In the second episode, with the change of times and Michael's efforts to "clean up" the family business, the originally closed world has to be connected with the outside world, and the film has a strong sense of reality. For example, murder turns out to be a crime and will be prosecuted. Another example is that Michael wants to attend a hearing and deny that he committed a crime with his family. Although he finally stopped Frank Pentangeli from testifying against himself at a critical time, it was still a little sad to see Michael, a figure who was obviously a godfather in the underground world, defending himself in front of those decent but not very upright people. T^ T (Oops, there is a problem with the values)

In addition, "The Godfather 2" complements the history of the old Godfather's fortune, and its dual-line narrative is much appreciated. For me, the mystery of the old godfather has faded. It's not bad yet, it just feels a little different.

Saw someone online saying that the epic feel of episode 3 has dropped. I feel the same way, and for me, one of the reasons is that the world in The Godfather is no longer that remote, mysterious, underground gangster kingdom. "The Godfather 3" was filmed in the 1990s, and it seems to be closer to the current world in terms of film quality, characters' clothing and other aspects. As a result, when I saw Michael's daughter, Mary, appearing and participating in charity projects, I remembered those rich and famous people in the city in the real world, and I was immediately disgusted.

But ah, think about it again, in fact, from the beginning to the end, it is because of the filter of the movie that the gang fights and vendettas have become so heartwarming. If the characters and plot in the play overlap with reality, it's not the same thing at all!
