Feelings watching the debate between Hong Kong people in exile and Taiwanese right-wingers about Hong Kong people's settlement in Taiwan
In the past two days, I have watched the debate on Twitter between the exiled Hong Kong and Taiwan right-wingers, and I am quite embarrassed .
The reason is that Taiwan "The Ministry of the Interior will announce the relaxation of the qualifications for Hong Kong and Macao white-collar professionals to work in Taiwan. As long as they have stayed for 5 consecutive years and their average monthly income in the last year is twice the basic salary, they can apply for settlement and obtain a Taiwan ID card." But the news As soon as it came out, some DPP legislators objected, on the grounds that they were worried about "Chinese infiltration" and demanded that Hong Kong people give up their "Hong Kong permanent resident" status, but they had to give up their Hong Kong permanent resident status (only to know: this requires a change of nationality, But since they can obtain the nationality of other countries, why bother to come to Taiwan?), which caused dissatisfaction among Hong Kong people, and scolded the legislators for ignorance. Amendments to this law are currently on hold.
The embarrassment of Hong Kong to Taiwan is that the Republic of China does not regard Hong Kong as a foreign country, and the mainland does not regard Taiwan as a foreign country. It is impossible for Hong Kong people to obtain Taiwan nationality, but it is only for Hong Kong people to obtain Taiwan permanent residence status. The right wing jumped, shouting "China "infiltrated", and all kinds of insults to Hong Kong people came out, either treating Hong Kong people as mainlanders, calling them "Hong Kong branch", or thinking that Hong Kong people were "emotional blackmail" Taiwanese, either think that Hong Kong people are not good enough, and what "courageous" is not as good as Taiwanese 228 resistance. In short, in their opinion, Hong Kong people in exile are no different from mainlanders, and they come to Taiwan to infiltrate, and do not want to fight with "Hong Kong, China." people" has nothing to do with it.
Remembering "Hong Kong today, Taiwan tomorrow", it has now become "Hong Kong is Hong Kong, China", which has nothing to do with Taiwan. Although these people are called Taiwanese right-wingers, I feel that more and more people in Taiwan feel that "you are not democratic in Hong Kong or China, what does it have to do with me Taiwanese", "Taiwan is not a beacon of your democracy", Taiwan now not only wants It is necessary to separate from China ideologically, but also to make a clean break with the Chinese in terms of identity.
Whether nationalists or liberals, our understanding of Taiwan should be turned over.
