Now there is a lovely Pingu 40th anniversary special exhibition at the Taipei Shihlin Science and Education Center. The exhibition will end on 5/1. Today, hurry up with your friends to use up the pre-sale tickets that you have already bought~
When I was a kid, I liked watching "Penguin Family" very much. Although I didn't understand what the Penguin language was saying XD, the delicate and lovely animation was very attractive, and even if I didn't understand it, the simple animation story performance was easy for children to understand. What are you doing.
Did you know that almost every character in Pingu has a name? For example, Pingu's sister is called Pinga, his girlfriend is called Pingi, the seal friend who often plays with Pingu is called Robby, and other penguin friends who occasionally come out to play together have names too! Only moms and dads are called "so-and-so's father or mother".
Not all places in the exhibition are open to take pictures, it doesn't matter, some things still have to be seen with your own eyes to feel it~
In addition to the relatively large Pingu models in the exhibition area, there are also a lot of Pingu animation introductions, behind-the-scenes story sharing, and clay models of many animation scenes.
It turned out that the "Penguin Family" animation that was initially tried out, the protagonist is not Pingu, but a penguin with a sharp and long mouth, called Pingo. At that time, the pilot animation was broadcast in Germany, and it received good attention, and everyone regarded Pingo. Pronounced Pingu, and finally Pingu became the name of the protagonist of "Penguin Family"!
In order to make the animation look smooth and natural, several clay penguin puppets must be made for each expression and movement. Even if there are only minor changes, they must be disassembled into several parts. Therefore, the penguin family studio behind the scenes The heads are full of penguin puppets, all of which are really spectacular. (also a little dense phobia)
And in order to make the pingu size the same every time, there is a uniform mold, which can make the clay the same size, even where the eyes and mouth must be glued, there will be marks when the mold is pressed down. of.
Each penguin is about 9 to 10 centimeters high, although it is not very small, but people who have watched "Penguin Family" should know that the facial expressions of the penguins are quite rich, and these details need to rely on the skill of the studio members. It is done by hand, even if the mold is set, it is necessary to use a tool such as a scraper to make fine adjustments carefully. Therefore, a 5-minute episode of animation, including pre-production, clay animation production, and post-production, takes about 2 months to complete!
When I was a child, I just watched "Penguin Family" with the mentality of "This cartoon is really interesting!". After watching the exhibition and learning about the various secrets behind the production, I felt a lot more respectful. Thank you for the careful behind-the-scenes production and creating for everyone A fun and cute childhood 🐧💓
