A mother-in-law and daughter-in-law chatting about the Bible, chatting about Naomi

Xiaolu went to a parenting education class yesterday~
Someone reacted this time because the students in the same group have been together for three days. From the briefing session, the first study session to the second session today, I have almost heard the stories of the same group~
It’s time for us to switch groups and listen to a new story!
So when Xiaolu goes to class in March, he can have new classmates and new stories~

Didn't Xiaolu say last time that there was an aunt in this group and her mother-in-law just didn't like her? Even if he knows that his wife is filial to him, and only this daughter-in-law is the most popular, it is the same. In addition, in the traditional concept, the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law are always at odds, which made me very interested in it when I saw a sentence in the Bible, that The saying is: He will lift up your spirit and support you in your old age, because he was born of a woman from that land who loved you. It is better to have this woman than to have seven sons!

I suddenly became curious about this story in the Old Testament. Why do people say that this woman has this daughter-in-law, which is better than her having seven biological sons?

The protagonist of this story is a woman named Naomi.
Naomi's name means my joy, but her life was not entirely in joy. She and her husband had two sons, originally lived in Bethlehem, and believed deeply in God. Problem: When there was a famine in Israel, Naomi's husband Elimelech decided to leave his homeland with his wife and two sons. The family went to Moab.

At that time, God required the Israelites to worship Him in the holy place He appointed at the time He appointed. Therefore, when Naomi and her family moved to Moab, they were unable to maintain an environment of worshiping God. Will this weaken their family’s faith in Jehovah?

After all, without the compatriots we worship together, without the familiar environment, facing a strange place and strange people, it is difficult to maintain the old respect! I'm not the only one who thinks this way, right?
It was a foreign land, full of foreigners, and many foreign gods... Those gods had their own believers, praying for wishes they might be able to fulfill, and offering sacrifices that the gods might want. .

Although Naomi believed in God, without the environment of worshiping God, Naomi's family gradually became different from the way they originally lived in Bethlehem. Naomi lost her husband in Moab. Yes, Naomi was devastated by her husband's death, but life had to go on when her two sons grew up, because life in Moab , the two sons naturally married local Moabite women as wives.
This may have worried Naomi because her ancestor Abraham had tried hard to find a wife for his son Isaac among his own people, those who also worshiped Jehovah. She also knew that the Mosaic law she received at that time stipulated that the Israelites were not allowed to allow their children to marry foreigners. I heard that this was to prevent their children from being influenced to worship idols. However, Naomi's two sons Mahlon and Chilion still married Moabite women. After all, they lived in Moab. If they didn't marry local girls, where would they find suitable wives?

Although Naomi was worried about her son's choice of wife, she truly loved her two daughters-in-law, Ruth and Orpah. Naomi tried her best to treat them well, hoping that one day they would also worship Jehovah, so Naomi Omi tried his best to be what a good person and a good believer should be.
What is certain is that both Ruth and Orpah loved Naomi. Since the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law was very good, the two daughters-in-law also became curious about the God shown in Naomi’s words and actions. Is there really such a loving Lord? ? Is there really a Lord who doesn’t like human sacrifice? Because of their mutual support and love for each other, when they experienced bereavement, they were able to get through it.

Yes, Naomi’s suffering did not end, as her two sons also passed away.
All the men in this family died, leaving behind her mother-in-law Naomi and the young widows Ruth and Orpah. Both daughters-in-law had no children. At this time, Naomi learned from the merchants that the famine in Israel was over. , she decided to return to her hometown of Bethlehem. "Bethlehem" means "house of food." Now that Israel is favored by Jehovah, Bethlehem is a veritable “house of food.”

But she also had two daughters-in-law. What should Naomi do? What would Ruth and Orpah do?

Please think about it, what would you do if you were the party involved?
