Terence, Forbole, Big Dipper, Desmos... ...
My name is Lin Zhaofeng , more people call me Terence , I am the co-founder of the blockchain start-up@Forbole, and Forbole has developed @BigDipper, an open source blockchain browser and staking management. The platform also launched @Desmos, a blockchain project designed for decentralized social networks based on Cosmos SDK and Tendermint. In order to demonstrate the application method of Desmos (ie " dogfooding "), we developed a new project based on Desmos. Decentralized microblogging Mooncake (download: iOS TestFlight and Google Play ).
Medium's Publication feature is very handy for someone like me who wears multiple hats. Matters doesn't seem to have this feature yet, so we opened a Matters account for Forbole, Big Dipper and Desmos each. I hope that through this article, you can better understand the positioning of these Matters accounts.
Forbole is a blockchain startup founded by Yang Kun and me in 2017 (see this introduction for details), and the English blog remains on Medium for the time being. Although Forbole was founded by two Hong Kong natives, when we first entered the blockchain world, we were involved in the overseas blockchain world, and half of our team did not understand Chinese, so our content was based on understanding. English users are the main target. It is really difficult for us to juggle two languages. If you try it, you will know that it may take more time to translate an article, even if it is written by yourself, than to write the original text.
After more than two years of development, we have enough foundation, so we are gradually adding Chinese content. The latest attempt is Big Dipper's YouTube channel , which is published in our native language, Hong Kong-style Cantonese. If more Mandarin users request, we will add subtitles (subtitles are more difficult than translation). Why not use Mandarin? Yang Kun is fine. Well, you can see my performance at the 18th AppWorks Demo Day:
Forbole's Matters will be based on Forbole's official Chinese blog. We have some old Chinese content published on Medium , some of which are obviously time-bound, so we are still considering how to deal with immigration to Matters.
Friends who are in contact with LikeCoin may also use Big Dipper. Big Dipper is the first open source browser developed by community participants in the Cosmos ecosystem. It is one of the award-winning works of the Cosmos HackAtom hackathon. When the Cosmos Hub mainnet was launched in March 2019, Tendermint Big Dipper is also used when the team broadcasts the situation . In August 2019, Big Dipper became one of the funded projects of the Interchain Foundation .
As an open source project, Big Dipper is well received and supported by the Cosmos community and has been forked 75 times . Big Dipper has supported a number of blockchain projects, including Cosmos Hub , IRISnet , Kava , LikeCoin Chain and e-Money , which are on the mainnet, and Agoric , Sentinel , Cyberd , Persistence , and of course, Desmos , which are in the testnet phase. Among them, the Big Dipper of the Cosmos Hub has been viewed by users from 146 countries around the world in the past 13 months.
We are carrying out a large-scale upgrade project for Big Dipper. The brand design, user experience and functions will also be comprehensively improved, and will also support the unique functions of different blockchains. For example, we are developing a Collateralized Debt Position ("CDP") interface for Kava's decentralized finance (DeFi) and stablecoin systems ( click for a one-minute introduction ). We also plan to support blockchain ecosystems other than Cosmos, and provide a one-stop mortgage mining operation and information platform for the blockchain and cryptocurrency world. Matters of Big Dipper will also develop based on this positioning.
Decentralized social networking was originally the goal of Forbole when it was founded (the weird name "Forbole" is actually related to this, pay attention to my Pitch at the end of the AppWorks Demo Day), but by accident, Forbole gradually Known in the circle as a blockchain validator. After a period of precipitation, we have restarted this goal. For the past and present life of Desmos, please refer to this latest news of Desmos .
So, Desmos' Matters account will focus on things directly related to Desmos, such as its technology, token economy, latest developments, and more. The user layer that the Desmos project can reach should be relatively broad. Technical friends can become Desmos verifiers or developers . General individual users can experience the simple experience of decentralized microblogs through Mooncake (download: iOS TestFlight and Google Play ).
My own Matters will revolve around my personal thoughts in areas other than blockchain and cryptocurrencies, and I believe one of the themes will be related to startups.
I hope this article will give you a better understanding of the positioning of our different projects, and I hope the content we provide will be helpful to you.
Like my work? Don't forget to support and clap, let me know that you are with me on the road of creation. Keep this enthusiasm together!
