Leading the European dance music to the world music scene

In the 1990s, the "Dance Empire" was popular in Taiwan's music market. This kind of dance music really captured every corner of Taiwan. When I was a student at the time, whether I went to eat at a small noodle stand or printed materials in a photocopy shop, all I heard was this music. When these albums were released, even TV commercials appeared, which shows that at that time. how popular. But you may not know that most of these dance songs come from Europe rather than the United States. The trend of dance music in Europe was almost the highest in the world at that time. After this wave of "dance music empire", the DJs who appeared on the pop chart next , and many are from Europe.

Then, if we move forward ten years, dance music in the 1980s shines in Europe, and there are dance music styles of different genres everywhere. For example, in Italy, there is a so-called "Itano Disco". However, in the 1980s, there was indeed an orchestra that became the pioneer of European dance music and led European dance music to the world pop music stage. This band is no stranger to Taiwanese. They are Modern Talking/Modern Quotations.

Modern Talking is a duo composed of music creator and producer Dieter Bohlen and singer Tomas Anders. It is best known as the most successful band in German history, with over 120 million albums sold worldwide.

In 1983, Dieter, a producer, met Tomas. He thought that Tomas' singing was very good, so he helped him produce several singles. Unfortunately, the market response was mediocre. In 1985, the two tried to release the single "You`re My Heart, You`re My Soul" as a duo, which unexpectedly became popular in Germany and even several European countries. Continuing the momentum of success. The second album only released a single, but this single went out of the European continent greatly, causing a boom in the world, which continued to the third album, both the single and the album were extremely popular. Their popularity even broke through the Soviet Iron Curtain and became the first Western band to sell records in the Soviet Union.

Although the subsequent albums were not as popular as the previous ones, in 1987, the band disbanded due to differences of opinion, and the two stopped contacting for several years. Dieter started different orchestras and music projects with continued success, Tomas performed worldwide under the name of Modern Talking and released five solo albums, more successful abroad than in his home country of Germany. It was not until Tomas moved back to Germany in 1994 that the two opened up and started to contact each other again.

In 1998, the music works were released again. During this period, the remixes of the famous works were also listed on the market. The results were not bad. After four albums were released, it was only disbanded for the second time in 2003. Groups on the music scene are always divided and merged, and the reasons are different. With the continuous arrival of new trends, this kind of replacement is the norm. Their songs, in terms of rhythm, are based on Eurodance, which has evolved more concisely from Disco in the 1970s, and add falsetto chords similar to Bee Gees. The songs are mostly AB-segment structures, and the melody is very "brainwashing" in modern words. ”, you can hum it after listening to it once. Their success is actually following the trend of the times and taking advantage of the trend. This is the reason why this band has become the best-selling music scene in Germany.

After watching this MV, I feel a little funny, this is probably the mysterious East in the eyes of Europeans...
