Podcast_Taipei Long Walk Series - Section 7: Maokong Section (Guide Palace Trail ~ Feilong Trail)

As long as you download the mission (including offline maps and tracks) first, and start the mission before starting to climb, you can automatically collect mission gems on the way, and you can also play the collection game while climbing the mountain!

In fact, Xingxing once walked through the Taipei Longitudinal Walk last year, but because there was an unfinished section of Yangmingshan and missed a more suitable period for mountaineering, it gave up. This year, I accidentally discovered the Treasure Hunting activity of hiking notes, so I decided to restart the Taipei Great Vertical Walk.

If you think the article is too long, you can refer to the Podcast of the stars
If you want to refer to the fork road information, you can also check out Xingxing's fork road information sharing
(This is the route completed in January-February this year, so it is normal not to wear a mask!)

  • What is Taipei Great Walk
In September 2018, the Geodetic Engineering Office of the Taipei City Government launched the "Taipei East, West, North, and South Great Vertical Walk" activity, referred to as the Taipei Great Vertical Walk, including a 69-kilometer north walk and a 23-kilometer south walk, with a total length of about 92 kilometers. At the beginning of the activity, you need to take a photo with the rubbing columns along the line to indicate your arrival. After the activity time is full, you can exchange for a sports towel. In 2020, the APP of Hiking Notes has added related task activities. As long as you download the task (including offline maps and tracks) and start the task before starting the mountain, you can automatically collect task gems on the way, and you can also collect while climbing the mountain. game. The APP activities will be restarted in 2021. This year's activities will be held from 1/1 to 12/31. If you are interested, don't miss it!
  • Route information for the seventh segment
Start from the trailhead of the Guide Palace Trail, go through the Dacheng Hall Trail, the Tea Exhibition Center Trail, the Camphor Tree Trail, and the Feilong Trail, and exit the National Chengchi University campus.
Before leaving, I collected information. It is said that Zhengda University has closed the Feilong Trail due to the epidemic, but a gem fell on the Feilong Trail, and some people replied that this section is passable, so I decided to go there and have a look. The seventh section is made of artificial stone steps. It is easier to have toe pain when wearing rain boots (myself), but the whole journey is easy and easy to walk.
  • Our transportation arrangements
We first cycled to park between the entrance of Zhengda University and the trailhead of the Guide Palace, and took a few steps to reach the entrance of the Guide Palace. There is a small area in front of the mountain entrance, you can put down your bags first, exercise your body, and warm up for the next trip.
  • The walking process of the day, the "Guide Palace Trail", was a stone staircase that was easy to walk. After Googled about 1200 steps, I thought it was easy to walk, because I just started walking. As long as you cooperate with the speed of your breathing and footsteps, you can easily walk. Finish. Walking the stone steps is the easiest way to practice breathing and pace at the beginning of climbing. Try to control it between no gasping and a little gasping, at least to the extent of being able to speak. If you start to be out of breath, it is recommended to put Slow down until you find the best travel speed. This section can be regarded as a real warm-up. After walking to the Guide Palace, you can also replenish water and go to the bathroom, but it is not recommended to stop resting, so as not to cool down the muscles that have finally warmed up!

After leaving the guide palace, follow the direction of the guide palace cat cable and return to the road, along the road you can get to the "Dacheng Hall Trail". In this section, there is no prospect all the way down, the whole journey is in the woods, and the sun is not seen again until I walk back to the road.

After returning to the road and walking for a short distance, you will arrive at the "Tea Exhibition Center Trail". This section will pass through a small stream. I think it is the most comfortable section of the whole journey. Unfortunately, there is really only a small section XD. After crossing the stream, you will start the uphill section, and not far from the road is the Tea Exhibition Center. When passing by, you might as well go in for a cup of tea. When you went there, you had to measure your forehead and have a real-name system. It should be the same now. If you have a thermos cup, you can also put a cup to take away for drinking. Don’t worry if you don’t bring it. The very intimate tea exhibition center also has mugs that you can use yourself. Remember to put it back at the specified location after use. In addition to taking a nap, the Tea Exhibition Center also has restrooms that you can use, which is a very suitable place to rest no matter the weather is too hot or you are tired from walking.

Because there are small vendors and shops near the cat cable station, this time we only prepared enough drinking water, oranges and salt and sugar to come. At the Mao cable station, there are not many choices for vegetarians, so I took stinky tofu for lunch. The CP value is not bad, I personally think it is quite delicious ^^

Leaving the cat cable station and still following the road, continue to get on the "Zhangshu Trail". The camphor tree trail can be regarded as the most beautiful trail in the whole journey, right? Although only a short paragraph. Along the way, there is a short cherry blossom trail in addition to the flower fields, but there should be a lot of people who want to take pictures, and there may be a queue. We just gave up that day! XD

When you reach Zhangshan Temple, you will officially enter the last section of the "Flying Dragon Trail". Zhangshan Temple can also replenish water or use the toilet, this is also the last rest stop! Because the upper end of the Feilong Trail is not fenced, it feels passable, so we just walked down the trail. This section is also in the woods with no outlook. In addition, I am the worst at going down the stairs and wearing rain boots, which is a relatively helpless section.

When I walked to the Zhengda campus, I found that the other end of the Feilong Trail was indeed enclosed. It may be because the Zhangshan Temple was not blocked, so there was a small opening for people to come and go. I didn't want to violate the rules of the National Chengchi University, but when I walked to the exit, I found out that it was really too late, so I had to step out through the small opening. Then continue to walk down the stairs and cut down, you can go to the entrance of National Chengchi University, and end the seventh section of the itinerary!

The seventh segment is estimated to be about 12 kilometers in the hiking notes, but my record is only 10.41 kilometers. I don’t know what the difference is? The hiking notes estimated the walking time to be about 5.5 hours, and we spent a total of 4 hours and 40 minutes together with the tea exhibition center drinking tea + eating stinky tofu. However, apart from drinking tea and eating, I didn’t stop to rest at all, and I cooperated with me to move forward slowly at a turtle-like speed, so it was really easy and correct!

Autumn is the most suitable season for mountaineering. If you are interested, you may wish to download the hiking note app and go up the mountain for a walk~
