Web3 Ecological Weekly (2021.11.15–11.21)

Web3 acts as a network that minimizes the friction and cost of information flow and value flow transmission. New application paradigms emerge and adhere to varying degrees of the following principles: open, decentralized, censorship-resistant, immutable, trustless, and permissionless.

The moment of going from zero to one is behind us, and going from one to N has just begun. Glacier Web3 Lab takes the international frontier perspective and gives full play to the advantages of resource aggregation, from distributed storage, decentralized computing, decentralized indexing, decentralized media, oracles, underlying public chains and other tracks to Web3. Explore, regularly track the information on the development of the Web3 ecosystem every week, aiming to tap the value of Web3 to expand and upgrade.

1. Distributed storage

※ Filecoin

1. In order to better accomplish the goal of distributed storage, Filecoin launches a decentralized Web3.0 application that seamlessly integrates storage—SINSO. SINSO will work on Filecoin Layer2, which is effective industry data collation and protocol docking.

2. ChainSafe As part of the cooperation with the Filecoin Foundation, ChainSafe started to develop the Filecoin-Substrate Bridge to expand the functionality of Filecoin in Polkadot. In the future, any Polkadot user who needs to refer to Filecoin data will use the bridge to verify that the information from Filecoin is true.

※ BitTorrent

1. BitTorrent Speed aims to incentivize more users to spread and share bandwidth through rewards, thereby providing an excellent download experience for users around the world. As of November 17th, there are over 3,100,000 TRON addresses activated on BitTorrent .

2. BitTorrent File System is the first scalable decentralized storage system based on the development of 2 billion Torrent users. As of November 16, the total number of contracts created on BTFS has exceeded 59 million .

※ Arweave

1. Arweave's permanent storage is now live on Polygon, users can pay for data uploads with MATIC, and open up new possibilities for smart contracts on permaweb.

The next step in this collaboration is to roll out the integration to all wallets in the Polygon ecosystem, bringing these new capabilities directly to end users. To bring these new features to the wallet, Arweave, Polygon, and Bundlr announced a $9,000 developer grant.

※ Storj

1. Storj DCS is announced as an exhibitor at the Gartner_inc IT Infrastructure, Operations and Cloud Strategy Conference to be held on 2021.12.6–12.8.

2. Distributed Computing

※ Livepeer

1. Previously, Livepeer released a preliminary proposal for a protocol upgrade, which aims to reduce the cost of Livepeer network users through gas fees.

※ DFINITY

1. On November 17, 2021, DFINITY announced a grant program focused on the growth and development of the Internet computing community for artists, educators, community organizations who want to start or develop community projects and who are willing to expand the DFINITY ecosystem Funding, training and support for creators, content creators and developer evangelists alike.

2. As of November 17, 2021, there have been more than 30,000 DFINITY Network Nervous System (NNS) proposals . NNS controls the operation of DFINITY and its nodes, allowing the network to be managed in an open, permissionless and secure manner.

3. As of November 18, 2021, DFINITY's blocks exceeded the 324 million blocks generated since Genesis. This count metric reflects the speed and capacity of DFINITY.

3. Internet of Things

※ Helium

1. Hotspot Fleets is updating the "blockchain-core" version that matches Validators. System operations may take longer to confirm, and rates and rewards are expected to fluctuate during the update process.

2. Helium Validators in Consensus Group are updated to the latest v1.5.5 version to help block production and packaging.

3. The Helium network currently covers 27,000+ cities and 148 countries .

Fourth, the oracle

※ Chainlink

1. Chainlink Keepers are currently listed on the Polygon PoS mainnet. Both Chainlink Price Feeds and Chainlink VRF integrate with Polygon, the time-tested infrastructure for DeFi decentralized price oracles.

Chainlink Keepers use off-chain computation to automatically trigger smart contract execution based on predefined conditions. With smart contracts built on Polygon, developers can outsource their DevOps tasks to Chainlink Keepers.

2. With the support of the Chainlink Grant program, the ThisDotLabs Smart Contract Community Database Open Source Center has compiled useful tools, tutorials, etc. for new smart contract developers.

3. Chainlink node operators running v1.0.0 clients and higher can now use an improved TOML-based v2 job format that supports increased job complexity, improved performance, easier scalability, and greater security.

※ Augur

1. On November 17, 2021, Augur announced the intent and structure of AugurDAO, which will be decentralized through DXdao's guild governance framework. This version of the DXdao guild contract has been customized to work with Augur's REPv2 and is designed to allow for upgradability, allowing the DAO to vote on how to follow the REPv2 fork during Augur's oracle parsing.

2. The smart contract and user interface supporting DAO voting is currently under active development, and the smart contract is scheduled to be audited at the end of November 2021.

V. Content Creation and Sharing Platform

※ THETA

1. The NFT marketplace curateproject has added THETA as a payment option on its platform. THETA will collaborate more with the Curate team in the future.

6. Public chain

※ Stacks

1. BitGo integrates Stacks to assist financial institutions to enter the DeFi field in a safe and reliable way.

7. Decentralized Domain Names

※ ENS

ENS is an open, public, decentralized identity protocol running on the Ethereum blockchain. Users can register ENS native .ETH names or import their already existing DNS domain names, which they can use as cross-platform Web3 usernames and profiles, one name for all encrypted addresses, and decentralized websites.

1. As of November 17, 2021, 447,623 ENS domains (.eth + DNS) have been created, 72% of which are .eth domains .
