Climbing a mountain without writing a plan is as dangerous as not buying insurance in life! Let NOTION help you get it done quickly!

Don't know how to write a mountaineering plan? 4 steps for lazy people, teach you to use Notion to write the most efficient mountaineering plan! 30 Baiyue experience, exclusive sharing, novices can go up the mountain safely!

What's your reason for going mountain climbing?

Maybe it's for health, to challenge yourself.

It is also possible that, like YouTuber Alyssa, when facing the low tide of life, feel the magnificence of the mountain and find the meaning of the next step in life.

When I was volunteering on the Jiaming Lake Handmade Trail, I asked Mr. Wu Yulong (a Taiwanese mountaineer who reached the world's highest "Mount Everest" in 2009) what made him keep climbing, and he said, "Happy!"

Everyone loves climbing for different reasons, but we all share the same goal: get home safely .

To be able to go home safely, preparatory work is absolutely essential, and writing a good "climbing plan" is one of the most important things in preparatory work.

In today's article, I want to share with you my experience of climbing Baiyue in the past 3 years. You will learn:

1. Why use Notion as a mountaineering plan

2. The key 4 steps to make a mountaineering plan

3. Sharing of mountaineering plan Notion template

1. Why use Notion as a mountaineering plan book

I used to use Word or Excel the most to make plans, and most of the information I found on the Internet was the same. But Word is only good at typesetting, and Excel is only good at calculations. Efficiency control, I keep thinking, is there any way to combine their advantages, so that I can more easily arrange the itinerary, quickly calculate the cost, not forget anything I need to bring, and only use the length of a mobile phone page, clear Log everything neatly!

Notion, made my wish come true!

In addition, in the Notion Mountaineering Plan I designed, I can also do:

  1. Just enter the landmark and the time between walking, and the complete mountaineering itinerary can be automatically listed
  2. Automatically calculate the cost of each player
  3. Quickly select a mountaineering plan template according to the number of days to climb the mountain

Next, let's take a look at how to use Notion to make a mountain climbing plan that combines all the above advantages!

I'll take the legendary "Gun Daesan" as an example, where riding a car is more tiring than climbing a mountain.

2. The key 4 steps to make a mountaineering plan

Step 1: Arrange all preparations into a daily action list

To plan a complete mountaineering itinerary, there are many trivial but important things that need to be done, such as drawing a mountain house, applying for a mountain admission permit, looking for cooperation...etc. Do one less, and the entire mountaineering trip may be in vain!

In order to arrange everything efficiently, I will insert and link my daily to-do itinerary on the page of the mountaineering plan, list all the things to do on it, and set the execution date. As long as the time is up, it will be automatically reminded in the bullet note-day plan I use every day, and I will never miss any item.

"Insert and link the daily to-do list database in the mountaineering plan of Gundaesan - Daily Action (Database)"

"In Bullet Notes - Day Plan, as soon as the time is up, it will automatically remind you of the things you need to do in your trip to Gunda Mountain"

Step 2. Itinerary planning

(1) The itinerary:

All major mountaineering information websites (ex. Hiking Notes) only provide the walking time between each mountaineering attractions/landmarks in the itinerary planning section. In order to be more automated , quickly arrange the itinerary, and calculate the total climbing time , in my Notion climbing plan template, you only need to fill in the landmarks in sequence (the field in the figure below: schedule), and enter the walking time between each landmark. (Column in the picture below: Time required), you're done!

<field description>
  1. No. : has been set, the order of marking is used
  2. Schedule : Fill in in order according to the sequence of landmarks passing by (requires manual input)
  3. Kilometers : In this column, you can note the kilometers and altitudes of important locations (requires manual input)
  4. Required time (unit: minutes) : Enter the required walking time between 2 landmarks (requires manual input).
  5. For example, it takes 150 minutes from 2. Gundae Forest Road to 3. Gundae Mountain Trail, so I write 150 on the line at Gundae Forest Road.
  6. Cumulative hr (unit: hour) : Add up the "Required Time" column to calculate the total time of the entire mountaineering trip, so as to check whether the physical strength is acceptable.
  7. Time : This field will automatically schedule the time itinerary according to the "Departure Time" you set and the number in the "Required Time" field.
  8. Departure time: Use the timestamp formula to convert the departure time into a timestamp, and paste it into the "time" formula of the itinerary below (requires manual input).
—> It will be designed like this, mainly to reduce repeated input and make the formula more concise
  1. If you want to flexibly modify the itinerary according to the travel of the group members, you only need to adjust the number in the "Required Time" field, and the total itinerary (ie the "Time" field) will be adjusted automatically.
  2. For example, if most of the members of this group are newbies and their feet are slow, so compared to the official reference itinerary, I will grab 10 minutes more at each scenic spot as a buffer, and the "time" column in the itinerary, It is automatically calculated and adjusted. (The left picture below is the official suggested itinerary, and the right picture is the automatically updated itinerary after adding 10 minutes)

(2) Weather forecast

Windy is the favorite weather forecast software for many people who are engaged in outdoor sports!

He has 2 versions of App and Web page. After I enter the location I want to query into the web version, copy the URL and paste it on Notion, and I can quickly click to query the latest weather forecast.

Windy offers 2 forecast systems: ECMWF (European Atmospheric System) or GFS (American Forecast System). I use the ECMWF system most often, it's really accurate, highly recommend it to everyone!

(3) Finally, put other key points of attention and supplementary information, such as mountaineering control time, retreat plan, and terrain height map...etc .

Step 3, packing list

A good packing list can reduce the chance of you forgetting things and make it easier and mindless to pack your luggage!

Although I have packed many times, I still need to rely on the packing list to help me double-check and avoid omissions.

I still remember when I went camping + climbing Mount Garry, because I was too confident and didn’t check the packing list, so I forgot to bring my pants!! Fortunately, there was the enthusiastic sponsorship of a friend, so I didn’t need to wear a miniskirt to climb the mountain!

The contents of the package can be divided into the following 5 categories: food, basic equipment, warm sleep equipment, rain and sun protection equipment, and other small items

The 1-day itinerary is different from the packing list of the multi-day itinerary. The main difference is the warm sleeping equipment and the small items.

The contents of the packing list for multiple days are shared below, and the blue words in the picture below can be omitted in the one-day itinerary.

Everyone's suitable or needed small things are different, and they can be adjusted according to their own experience.

I like to communicate with mountain friends on the mountain, see what good things they bring, and add them to my packing list! Recently collected 2 good things:

  1. Japanese-made compression socks can be worn all night to sleep, keep warm and reduce the soreness of the legs, so that tomorrow's legs will be alive and well!
  2. The Xiaomi Led light is light and does not consume power. It can be used in mountain house lighting when plugged into a power bank. The range is wider than that of headlights.

Step 4. Player information and accounting

  1. In "Participants", record the names and phone numbers of the team members for emergency contact (step 1 in the figure below)
  2. Record all expenses in the "Expenses" form, and easily calculate the total price of the itinerary (step 2 in the figure below)
  3. Connect the "Participants" and "Expenses" tables in series (Relation) (step 3 in the figure below)
  4. If each person needs to pay for different items, just follow one of the methods below, and the system can automatically calculate the total cost of the player (steps 4 & 5 in the figure below)

It's important to make a good climbing plan, and with Notion's help, you can make sure that you don't miss all your to-do items, schedule your climbing itinerary with ease, make sure you have everything you need with your packing list, and figure out all your expenses without thinking. .

All this rich content can be fully presented with only one mobile phone screen ! Do you believe it?

That's right, as long as you use the Toggle layout function, you can collapse the information, and when you need it, you can quickly browse and find the information you want.

3. Sharing of mountaineering plan Notion template

The mountaineering plan made with Notion is the most complete, fast and satisfactory planning method I have tested so far!

He combined my experience of 30 Baiyue Mountains in the past 3 years, and continued to make fine-tuning according to the needs of each mountain climbing, so that when I planned my self-organized mountaineering itinerary, it became faster and faster, but it was more thoughtful.

And the time saved, of course, is used to exercise physical strength, try a more advanced mountain!

My climbing principles are:

Climbing the mountain must be done step by step, according to your ability/physical strength, do not leapfrog and fight monsters! If you don’t want to be crowded, then train yourself to level up and go to a stronger mountain!

A safe descent is always the highest guiding principle.
