Wen Tao Wen Sanwa: Big V inside and outside the wall selling chicken feet

The Internet of Wonders Wen Tao.
This is an excerpt from my upcoming new books "How the Public Knowing Is Made" and "My Public Knowing Friend". Some of the content has been published on this platform.

Wen Tao's net name Wen Sanwa, and a series of net names, because Weibo and WeChat have been blocked too much, I can't remember them. The most important thing is that he was always confused with a man named Dou Wentao. His previous occupation was also a reporter, and he worked in many media in China and Hong Kong, including China Radio International and the English edition of the Global Times. Sports reporter, Southern newspaper department, and current affairs news have all worked.

Now open an online store, mainly selling chicken feet, as well as other foodies. I don’t know whether the business is good or bad, because domestic Weibo has been blocked for a long time, and network marketing can’t see it. Twitter is active and often seen, but there are few off-the-wall buyers.

His reputation on the Internet is smaller than Ren Zhiqiang and bigger than me. After Ren Zhiqiang was banned by a government order, there was a nationwide ban list of seven people, the first of which was Wen Tao (Wen Sanwa). Even though I was blocked many times when I came here, I just gave the list to various Internet companies and no longer announced it nationwide.

There is one more thing that not many people know. One year, Wen Tao was missing on the street for more than 80 days because of his involvement with Ai Weiwei, wearing a black hood. In the end, it was released without any explanation or compensation.

I have been in contact with him for a long time, but only met once. In 2015, Zhao Wen, a big V reporter from Lanzhou, also angered the police because of his online remarks. His personal information was leaked, and he was punished by the unit and banned from the Internet. When Zhao Wen came to Beijing, he was a fellow on the Internet. I asked Wen Tao to get together, but he didn't come by coincidence. Later, in 2016, I met Wen Tao at a gathering of WeChat group friends. This time, a large group of friends was arranged in Zhejiang. There was no boat charter, but a bus was rented. The group friends visited and had food and drink.

But on WeChat, I have always communicated well with Wen Tao. He's a very talented reporter with a bit of bad luck. When I was a journalism professor, I admired his work. At that time, I had my own international exchange program fee. I was in the circle of friends and told the students that I would use a report by Wentao as a model essay, saying that if anyone can write such a report, they can sponsor him to go to the United States. Visit for half a year.

Of course, in the end, neither I nor his career ended well. I was demoted to the library in 2014, and the account under my name, which was escorted by the school, was never moved. When I resigned in 2017, the project went with everyone, and it was necessary to transfer it as usual. Before resigning, he clearly stated that he could transfer away, but when he had to go through the formalities after resigning, he began to act like a hooligan, withholding 187,000 yuan from me, and suing after persuading me.

Speaking of which, Wen Tao and I have a lot in common. He majored in ideological and political education at Beijing Normal University as an undergraduate, and later was admitted to the second-degree class of international journalism at Xinhua News Agency China School of Journalism. His former teacher, Li Zhurun, a senior reporter from Xinhua News Agency, was also hired by me to be a lecturer at BFSU. Mr. Li Zhurun, under the pseudonym Li Xin, was misrepresented when he misreported that the Lei Feng portrait was hung at West Point Military Academy. Later, he clarified and apologized on the Internet.

My doctoral degree in Tsinghua is also a major in ideological and political education. It is the same major as Xi Jinping and has a different research direction. Xi is the direction of political economy, I am the direction of international relations. Later, he went to BFSU and founded the journalism major. He served as the director for 8 years and taught international journalism.

After Wen Tao graduated, the China School of Journalism closed down. After I left BFSU, although the International School of Journalism and Communication existed, it returned to the old road of translation and publicity, and it only existed in name only. My external team has also disbanded. Mr. Li Zhurun, who is very professional in international news writing and interviewing, is no longer employed.

Not only that, Wen Tao immigrated to Canada with skills in his early years and got the Maple Leaf Card for permanent residence. Maybe it was because he couldn't bear the loneliness, or because of other pursuits, he finally gave up the maple leaf card and returned to China to continue working as a reporter.

But after going through multiple media, he was finally laid off. I don't know if it's a natural desire to express, or to make a living, selling chicken feet and bacon online. Wen Tao constantly changes his vest, and persists in the online world in China and on Twitter outside the walls, insisting on posting and writing articles.

In "Immigration and Patriotism," he wrote:

"On the eve of Teachers' Day in September 2017, Mr. Qiao Mu, a former professor at BFSU, finally immigrated to the United States with his family. He once dreamed of becoming one of the first elected members of mainland China in the 21st century, but his bad luck in his home country began when he independently ran for election in 2011, and has since become a A loner on the Beiwai campus, an ID that has been repeatedly disappeared on social media.
Six years later, he chose to vote with his feet.
From resolutely not immigrating, to secretly planning for several months, suddenly one day announced in the circle of friends: the whole family has gone to the United States.
I personally understand that Mr. Qiao Mu has indeed deviated from his personal creed. He has a political participation complex and believes that only localization and communityization can have practical significance.
Leaving his hometown, knowing and doing the opposite, is not his original wish. In order to get rid of the embarrassment and make such a tangled decision for the children's educational prospects and other reasons, and to succeed, it is also courageous, see luck, and bless him and his family. "

Wen Tao understands me somewhat. When I actually came to the United States to settle for a period of time, Bafang was lonely, and I partially understood why he gave up his Canadian green card (Maple Leaf Card) and returned to China. In his words:

"The fish that can't be caught in summer are stupid, and they go straight to the hook without bait; in winter, it's just shoveling snow, which can't be shoveled."

This is just a superficial life, and there are livelihoods, careers, and more deeply, how can we keep our voices and lose our voices for those of us who love writing and dissemination?

I don't know if he came back after divorce or divorced after coming back. In short, during the more than 80 days that he was missing wearing a black hood, there was always a female Twitter netizen who was following him and finally became his wife. Now that the situation has changed, and there are children, it is easier said than done to immigrate again.

He himself is very calm, what to say, but he is often mocked on Twitter by Beifeng Wenyunchao, who protects the United States, saying that he is a loser. However, the two are also a bit similar. Wen Yunchao often suns pig intestines, and Wen Tao often sunbaths chicken feet.

I was reluctant to go abroad when I was able to go abroad in the early years. When I was about 50 in middle age, I was unwilling to grow old with tyranny and had to move to the United States. In China there is everything, mainly there is no freedom of speech. There is freedom of speech in the United States, but no one listens to it. Nostalgia is lonely. I want to go back to China and be happy. I am afraid that my wife will get divorced and share the property. I am not as lucky as Wen Tao, and I can still find a young and beautiful wife. The most important thing is what if, like Wen Tao, I want to immigrate again, what should I do?

tangled.

And Wen Tao is tangled and tangled. On Twitter, he should eat and drink, and he should not put anything in his heart. Often sunbathing, sunbathing, sunbathing, sunbathing and beer. Occasionally scolded me neither yin nor yang, and I did not slap back in black and white.

Wen Tao quoted Wu Fatian (real name Wu Danhong) on Weibo

Wen Tao has written a lot of articles, especially the textual comments on Chinese leftist figures such as Sima Nan, Hu Xijin, Zhou Xiaoping, Dai Xu, etc. They are well-founded and literary. But I always feel a little abuse of talent, tossing around these garbage all day long, isn't it just picking up rubbish? Because the study of Sima Nanwei is a great idea, and the original "Southern Learning", but I always feel that it is not as good as my "Zhao Family - Zhao Learning".

Wen Tao also has a specialty of picking graves. No matter whose Weibo or WeChat is blocked, deleted, or submerged, he can always find screenshots of Weibo or Moments. In addition, when writing articles, all kinds of textual research and anecdotes are readily available. How big of a brain does a person of 1.59 meters have to have?

CCTV anchor Liu Xin complained that while flying in China, there was no one to help with luggage and no one to help. It is estimated that Wen Tao felt the same way. However, he usually does not fly, but takes the green train. Can't reach the luggage rack, step on the chair, don't forget to take off your shoes. The green-skin train is cheap. If you lose your job, you will have time. Bring food and drink.

Wen Tao also likes to be truthful, and is a little eye-opening. In 2018, many people accused Zhang Wen of sexual harassment, because Zhang Wen and others were partners of Professor He Weifang, marketing "Laohe Private Brew" wine. Wen Tao hoped that He would have an attitude towards this matter in the WeChat group. He Weifang finally issued a formal response, advocating a legal solution. Although we all know that sexual harassment is difficult to solve by law, whether in China or abroad. The victimized lady risked being hurt again, me too, I chose to speak out, just to seek a fair public opinion, let them suffer moral and professional condemnation, and at the same time alert the public to this matter.

What I admire most about Wen Tao is that he is a true practitioner of freedom of speech. Posts praising him and scolding him are all forwarded. In the free market of speech, let the public identify for themselves. He is small and big-hearted, which further highlights the smallness of those who are intolerant of speech and like to scold people.
