When I went to Jiufen, 3 years after the release of Sad City (released in 1989), Jiufen is already a new hot spot, but it’s not an exaggeration. In fact, before the City of Sadness, the beauty of Jiufen was already flowing in some literati and artists. At that time, there was no Internet, and an emerging scenic spot would not explode so fast (similarly, it would not disappear so fast).

Even after the city of sadness, Jiufen did not become popular overnight. By today's standards, it was still a slow heat. A newspaper supplement invited me to write a travel report. I was too lazy to travel far, so I picked nine copies from the nearest one. Because I asked for photos, I brought my old FM2 with me. Since I didn’t need color, I tried to buy a roll of negatives and shoot. Black and white photo. Because it was very expensive to wash black and white photos at that time, and I didn’t have a darkroom, I only washed the small full sheets (that is, the original size of 135 negatives was printed to A4 size), and then I picked one suitable for enlargement and sent it for submission. Other negatives, piled up In the depths of the filing cabinet, there is no seeing the sun.

I recently dug out the batch of negatives and made a digital file with a newly purchased negative scanner. The negatives actually have a lot of flaws, the scanners are not high-end, and the shooting technology in those years was not good (it has not improved now). The re-engraving of this batch of things is just presented as a historical archive, but 1992 is not too ancient, just me. Selfish souvenirs.
