[Reading Notes 2] Earthly Elegy

The first time I read this book was about three years ago, when I was still a freshman, and I was at the height of my ignorance and my thirst for knowledge. I forgot the origin of reading this book, it should be an accident, but I didn't expect that this accident left a deep imprint after reading the book, and it has been subtly affected to this day, and it is likely to continue to be affected. I have recommended this book to people many times. I don’t know if they have read it in the end, and what kind of reaction they have after reading it. In short, to me, this book seems to have opened the door to a new world, and it has moved in the direction of the door since then. No hesitation.

Let me introduce the author, Tujia Yefu, whose real name is Zheng Shiping, was born in a remote village in Lichuan County, Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hubei Province. In 1978, he was admitted to the Chinese Department of Hubei University for Nationalities and began to write poetry. In 1982, he organized the poetry club "Pozao Poetry Club" and began to use "Yefu" as a pseudonym. In recent years, he has occasionally called himself "Tujia Yefu" on the Internet. In 1985, he served as the executive director of Hubei Youth Poetry Society. Ye Fu wrote a blood letter at the age of sixteen: If he does not get admitted to Wuhan University, he will never be a human being. He was born and raised in western Hubei and regards Wuhan University as a holy land of education. In 1986, he was admitted to the Chinese Department of Wuhan University, established the "Postmodern Poets Salon" in Hubei Province, and published a collection of poems "Wolf Night Cry". During his studies at Wuhan University, he was appreciated by Yi Zhongtian and became a disciple who was also a teacher and a friend. In 1988, he was assigned to work in the Hainan Public Security Unit. In 1989, he quit the police field because of his sympathy for the students. Later, he was arrested after being reported by his friend Xiong Zhaozheng for participating in the cover of pro-democracy activists and sentenced to six years in prison on the charge of "leaking state secrets". In 1995, he was commuted and released from prison, and went to Beijing to make a living and set up a private bookseller. Yi Zhongtian once handed over his early works "Gossip Chinese" and "Men and Women in China" to the publishing house run by Ye Fu to help him get a foothold in life after he was released from prison. Then Ye Fu gradually became a freelance writer and devoted himself to his writings.

"Elegy of the World" is divided into two parts. The first half of "Elegy" mourns the deceased relatives and deceased. "I mainly write about friends, and between the lines, there is a generous sense of loyalty that gushed out. Some words are loud and clear, like pearls falling on a plate. The two parts are perfectly combined, the front and the back are in contrast, and their love and friendship are like the water in the gate, and there is nothing left.

elegy

"Elegy" in each article is deeply emotional. Compared with the widely circulated "Mother on the River", my personal favorites are "The Destiny After Organization - Uncle's Revolution and Love" and "The Landlord's Death - Chronicle of Land Reform and Destruction". (Links are attached at the end of the article) I have read each article at least 5 times, and every time I read it, I feel moved by the first reading.

Through "Landlord's Mourning", I have a general understanding of how our party seized power from the countryside by besieging the cities, and how to transform China's rural areas from the clan governance method in "Rural China" to the current governance method.

I don't know why, but I always hold a pessimistic attitude towards the status quo of this society, and feel that it will not go to a good place step by step. On the one hand, it comes from a personal summary of the history of the founding of the country in the past 70 years, and on the other hand, it comes from the vivid stories of personal destiny seen in real life.

You say that if a person lets go of a big mistake, such as robbing or killing someone. After a period of time, he said that he abandoned evil and turned to good, worked hard to become rich, and then did charity all over the country to support all kinds of people in need. So how should we evaluate this person, does he need to be punished by the law, or does he pretend to forget the evil he committed before because he looks good now?

I think everyone should have their own answer to this question. What if the person was replaced by an organization?

A few days ago, I recommended a question on the front page of Zhihu, discussing the source of the legitimacy of the Chinese government’s governance. A professor from a famous school talked about the thousands of years of Chinese history in front of foreigners on a stage similar to China’s Got Talent. to find the source of its legitimacy. From the beginning to the end, I have no idea what the content of it has to do with the title. I tried to find the answer from the comments and found that comments are prohibited.

I remember when I studied politics before, I learned that the formation of government stems from the transition of power of citizens. Each citizen entrusts part of his personal power to a convincing organization, and then finances the organization through taxation and other obligations to let it manage on his behalf, so that he is not harmed and enjoys certain rights.

Therefore, many things cannot stand up to discussion, and many contents cannot be discussed.

earthly

There are many stories of wild husband and friends recorded in the world. After reading it, there will be an illusion that this is the longing life, confidant plus small wine. There is also his way of making friends and life attitude when he visited Dai on the snowy night, when he came and went, and when he was very happy, he didn't need to see Dai.

I saw a sentence before, saying that what books you read when you are young is often unreasonable, but the rest of your life is influenced by it. I really forgot why I read the whole book, but I found that my whole mind began to change gradually after reading it. I am not sure whether it is left or right. I only know that in the years to come, it was engraved on me. The imprint is deepening.

Universal values convince me more than the ideas I learned from propaganda growing up. Including but not limited to: democracy, freedom, equality, rule of law. The state is obliged to defend the birthright of citizens, such as the right to live, the right to reproduce, the right to know, the freedom of thought, the freedom of expression, and the freedom from fear.

As for the public in the dust, many people do not know what rights and obligations they have. Compared with immediate interests, universal values are far too far away from people in real life. I hope that in my lifetime, we can see the day when universal values penetrate into the hearts of every Chinese. At that time, this will be a country that truly deserves respect and love.

The dividing line, this draft has actually been written since my junior year, and it has been delayed for a long time, mainly because I am worried that what I write with my current writing skills will ruin this book. After realizing that this is just a reading note, I can write whatever I want and start doing whatever I want. It does not seek to describe the whole picture of the book completely, but only as a record to record the experience and feelings of reading this book. Thinking about it like this, I feel very good. Immediately Vince springs up...

Since there is no relevant profile on Douban, I will not post the link here.

Preface II Conjuring Souls in the Form of Prose

Therefore, Chinese literature, although every other generation has a new journey, such as the literary revolution in the New Culture Movement, such as socialist realism and romantic literary calls, such as the pursuit of modern literature during the reform and opening up period, these literatures ultimately He went astray and became a reactionary and authoritarian accomplice of civilization. Among them, the most serious is that literature poisons the minds of the people through false images, making the people incapable of being conscious of the double insults and damages of regulation and alienation, and resignedly accept the law of the jungle, social Darwinism, and existence is rational. Etc. servile thinking and homeopathic thinking. Historians have observed that every time China's modern transformation begins, literature is the first to shout, but its achievements are not flattering. Sociologists have revealed that in the institutional construction of China’s modern transformation, every time the national equality and republican system is run-in, the result is that the social structure is finally finalized when the system is not finalized: the upper and lower layers are stratified, and the people are divided into three, six, nine and so on. The final law in the book Animal Farm: All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

For example, everyone is arguing over who is liberal and who is conservative among the "leftists and rightists". Where does this division come from, and why does our party turn against the left at one time and turn against the right at another time? When it was hard to get to know each other, I would listen to Lao Li talk about the round table conferences in the West, the French Revolution, and the history of the international communist movement. Until then, I finally understood what my "rightist" mother's origins meant.

Another example is that the authorities criticize love literature as anti-pornography, why do they call pornography yellow instead of green or something else? The teacher doesn't understand these feather problems, and Lao Li will tell you that there was a Penguin Publishing House in the UK, which published a batch of pulp novels, all of which were covered in yellow, so the media attacked them, and there was a saying of "yellow books".

- The original intention of the Red Guards' rebellion stemmed from the generation's sense of sacred mission. They were not pure, at least not as naive as we imagined today. But well-motivated actions do not guarantee correct outcomes. A series of movements before the Cultural Revolution caused grief and complaints, and a volcano has long been formed. The Chinese expected a big social change regardless of the outcome, so when Mao launched this struggle for power, he simply borrowed the people's grievances. And when the call of God and the latent demands of the grass people combine wonderfully, a collective crazy movement from the destruction of people to things to the mutual destruction of people and people is formed.

He believed that intellectuals should be the first to bear the blame for this. The fire of the Cultural Revolution in various parts of the country was not caused by illiteracy. The main "arsonists" were all scholars. Before that, the lack of morality of the entire intellectual group objectively acquiesced and condoned the arbitrary actions of tyranny. The bloody price they paid for it had not yet fully awakened their conscience and courage at that time. History has generally played tricks on those with a deep sense of purpose, and we seem to be forever in an age of jokes.

The ancients said that when you visit Dai on a snowy night, you go there when you are happy, and you return when you are exhausted, so why not see Dai?

For a lifetime, follow each other's heart, just like water in a river, the waves are flat when the bank is wide, and the current is turbulent when the bank is narrow. As long as the heart is good, there is no future.

The fate of the organization

2015-01-24
As a noun, "organization" seems to be a loanword from Japanese; in ancient Chinese, it was just a verb - weave or frame. The introduction of the term was initially only about medical or biological use, such as tissue; its history is no more than 100 years old. But in such a short period of time, the word suddenly swelled like a ferment and became a social term that has swept the whole of China in the 20th century. At the beginning, it only meant a collective or association, such as an underworld organization, which was combined according to a certain purpose, mission and system; but with the violent advance of the communist movement, this indeterminate word will actually derive a special word in the dictionary. Some righteous items—specifically the CCP.

To this day, I can't doubt that their original intentions had some dastardly ends. After I went to college in 1978 and started to be friends with many old Hong soldiers, I gradually deepened my understanding of that generation. At first, they had a certain noble and pure sense of mission. The education model of "taking the world as their own responsibility" and "changing the world" made every young student be as arrogant as a politician. They are not innocent, at least not as naive as we think today. As long as you carefully study the countless letter-dispatching strategies and wars directed by these young people throughout the period of Wenhua, you can believe that they are far smarter, more complex, and more practical than today's students. However, their maturity is often manifested in the calculation of specific bucket needles. They lack an accurate grasp of the great will, and they have not fully grasped the essence of this really unreasonable movement that the bucket maker wants to make his own meal. . The same Tianyin often turns them into completely hostile and contradictory actions. The essence of this kind of enthusiasm and blindness is the lack of sophistication and frivolity.

Well-motivated actions do not guarantee correct outcomes. Among them, we can't ignore such a hidden fact-that is, this nation has already experienced too many fortunes and tossing, and the increasing number of bucket needles has brought about economic regression. There is no peace in the sky, there are sorrows everywhere, and the series of deprivation and coercion of ordinary civilians has long been full of complaints. However, the great Brick Town machine does make people dare not speak out. In the midst of their grievances, they saw that the interests of the whole childish class were based on the sacrifice of the common people, that coffinism prevailed in various government departments, and that the normal nerves of a nation had long since been weakened and were on the verge of madness. Individual people are silent, but collective volcanoes are forming. The people are expecting a big social change, no matter what the outcome of the change will lead to

Shangri-La's Notes

I can't drink any more wine, and I have to travel tomorrow. Everyone started talking about yellow jokes to create an atmosphere. Fan Wen said that a truck driver was driving alone from Deqin to Shangri-La on the night road - it was a lonely and dangerous road - and sure enough he met a Tibetan man with a gun across the road. He had to get out of the car to buy road money, but they didn't want it. When he asked what he wanted, he said he had to take out your stuff, but he had to take it out, and he said he had to hit a handgun, but he had to take it out. Then say you can go. People say do it again, there is no other way but to do it again. People ask if it's cool, cool. Once again, he said, brother, it's really not good, you can kill me. The robber blew a whistle, and a stunning beauty came out of the forest. The robber said to the driver - you, take her to Shangri-La, she is my sister. please.

At dusk in Cizhong, I was flipping through the Wu family's guestbook while gossiping with the old man. I want to know whether people can live in harmony in this small multi-ethnic and multi-faith village, and whether the love that the ancient teachings want to spread has really reached the hearts of these grass people. He told me that since the restoration of religious freedom in the 1980s, there has not been a single drunkard in his village. What's more interesting is that there will be funerals in each family, Catholic families will do it according to Catholic rules, and Buddhists will also come to participate, but they will sit upstairs and then recite their own sutras, and vice versa.

Looking at the blue sky above my head and listening to the eternal whimpering water around me, I really do not know which god is ruling this valley, and who makes the people live and work in peace and contentment in this poor mountain and bad water. I have lived most of my life and have known various religions and even "cult" believers, but I have not been able to truly find my spiritual destination. Between theism and atheism, I lean towards theism. But between monotheism and pantheism, I'm leaning towards pantheism - it just so happens that most religions are only allowed to believe in their own gods. The reason why I am personally inclined towards Buddhism is only because only a pope like the Dalai Lama dares to declare in the whole world that I respect all religions and their followers in the world.
There was a dinner party, Zhao Lin [a doctoral supervisor of religion and theology at Wuhan University], Fu Zhiying [former editor-in-chief of Taiwan Tianxia Culture Publishing Company, disciple of Master Xingyun], and a Christian friend who was Fu. Everyone was eating and suddenly talking about faith - probably I picked it up on purpose. Naturally, each family has their own opinions, but in the end, I am more convinced by Zhao Lin's statement. He said he was a deist, he believed that all things were created by God, and he could not name it. For example, if you pick up a watch on Mars, you will definitely think that it is made by God, but if you pick up a stone, you think it is not made by God - but in fact, the molecular structure of a stone may be far greater than that of a stone. The watch is complicated.

I don't know the reason why a country has to make atheism the mainstream ideology. I only know that in a theistic country, science is still developed. And in such a village, because there is a god - whether this god is from India or France - people are peaceful and harmonious because of their faith, and they are in awe. No one forces them to go over the mountains to church every Sunday [many families live on the surrounding mountains], but they are far more conscientious and religious than those who get paid and study documents.

We are looking for a subject word for this place, and we have found a word-harmony--although this word may be publicized and deceived, but in this world full of conflicts and plots, here, it is basically worthy of to our correct understanding of the term.

I don't know if my scribbled description here really reaches the Shangri-La in everyone's heart. I don't know if my short stop will be able to make a tired bird rest its wings and take root. The gate of our inn is facing Baiji Mountain, the mountainside is the cemetery, and the top of the mountain is the Baiji Temple. One day, Zhao Ye and I climbed the cemetery at dusk, and we sat between the steles and suddenly talked about death. I suddenly remembered that the universal consolation that the "Tibetan Book of the Living and Dying" aims to accomplish is nothing but a death education. Death is not a doom that falls from the sky, it is an innate destiny. Life is just a process of death. Our bodies are dying little by little every day. The hair loss on our pillow yesterday and the ulcer in our stomach today are all the parts of us that have just died. But sadly, we always have to use this remaining stump to pray for eternity and immortality.

Nostalgia on the taste buds

2015-01-25
This is an almost sensitive topic now, but our ancestors saw it better than we did. "Food and sex are also", "the heart of lust, everyone has it", "I have never seen a person who is as good as a lust", all of which are said to be this principle - human beings are born with a little bit about pornography Pleasure. Although this is the inferiority of human beings, it is also the loveliness of human beings.
But the defense of men and women has a long history, and it is the same in both China and the West. Labeling the normal human desire "pornography" with a "yellow" label and sweeping it away should be regarded as a Western invention. The "Yellow Magazine" founded in the United Kingdom in 1894, and a set of novels with yellow covers launched by Penguin Publishing House, were ridiculed by the media as "yellow books" because of their gender-related content. Since then, pornography is equal to pornography, and pornography is regarded as a crime, so that the Chinese government has developed an organization of "anti-pornography office", which is really a strange landscape derived from human civilization. For many years, once literary and artistic works have been labeled "yellow", the consequences are well known, but the legal definition of "yellow" is almost always vague. As long as a leader of a certain department feels a little redheaded, the case can be finalized. You can find someone to overturn the case, but you can't find the applicable law to defend against false accusations-for a civilized and legal country, this seems absurd.

It must also be said that Americans are smart, they were the first to realize the injustice to the people caused by this obscure field, and decided to revise the judicial interpretation. A group of healthy men and women discussed together, compared with their own human nature requirements, and came to the unanimous conclusion that obscenity is a crime, and pornography is not a crime. This definition can be described as another great progress of human civilization. It guarantees the legal rights of the majority of normal adult men and women. Like the invention of the great "rubber umbrella", legal condoms became the hobby of the people. Therefore, "Playboy" can be marketed to the world and become a pillar industry, tertiary films can drive the film industry, and red light districts can become tourist attractions in most civilized countries. This is not to say that foreigners can't hold back more than us. If they don't open up their people, they will "revolt". It is because all legal principles must conform to "the way of heaven and people's hearts", otherwise it is "evil law".
