Matters is experimenting with a new on-chain advertising mechanism, with 80% of revenue matching donations to creators

Matters has launched a new on-chain advertising matching mechanism. Starting from today, you can see the advertising "Bulletin Board" page (called Billboard in English) on the homepage. 80% of the USDT revenue obtained from advertising will be distributed to Matters users through a matching donation system, and eligible users can receive it.

The core spirit of this matching donation mechanism is to use the power of the community to jointly explore and support good content; when your article is rewarded with USDT by others, it means that the community recognizes that this article is a high-quality article, and you can share the advertising revenue.

Why did Matters launch this advertising matching donation mechanism?

Matters hopes to allow creators to earn more income through decentralized technology and donation matching rules. We transform traditional advertising traffic logic into NFT, and through the NFT auction system, advertising revenue, transactions, bidding and other behaviors are all conducted on the chain, making it more transparent and fair, and allowing creators to gain more benefits. Part of the revenue is distributed to Matters users, creating a win-win situation for the community.

Billboard is a decentralized on-chain advertising protocol running on Optimism. The "Harberger tax" is used to determine the auction price of each page (see the Billboard green paper for more instructions). Those who buy the advertising space pay Taxes are the source of community profits. The "Harberger Tax" enables resources to be used efficiently and reduces speculative bidding.

What are the conditions for receiving USDT matching donations?

The specific conditions for community users to receive matching donations are: (1) Your Matters account is bound to an Ethereum wallet (how to bind the wallet? See this guide ) (2) The article is effectively rewarded with USDT from others. If you meet the above conditions, you will receive a matching donation from this period’s advertising revenue.

As mentioned above, this mechanism hopes to highlight the collective decision-making of the community, so we use the principle of "quadratic matching of donations" to match donations. There is no limit to the amount.
