Discipleship of Inheriting Life

Bible Reading: 2 Timothy 2:1-13

Selected Scripture Reading: 2 Timothy 2

1. My son, be strong in the grace of Christ Jesus. 2. What you have heard me teach in the presence of many witnesses, entrust also to those who are faithful and who can teach others.

3. You will suffer with me and be a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4. Whoever is a soldier, let him not be entangled in the affairs of the world, so that he who enlists him as a soldier may be pleased. 5. Athletes who do not follow the rules cannot win the crown during the competition. 6. Industrious farmers should get food first. 7. Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in all things.

8. Remember Jesus Christ, the seed of David, who rose from the dead; this is the gospel I preach.

9. I suffer for this gospel, even bound like a criminal, but the word of God is not bound. 10. Therefore I endure all things for the elect, that they may also receive the salvation and eternal glory which are in Christ Jesus. 11. This word is trustworthy: if we died with Christ, we shall also live with him; 12. If we endure to the end, we shall also reign with him. If we deny him, he will deny us; 13. Even if we fail, he is still trustworthy, because he cannot deny himself.

Times Meditation:

How important is the teaching of truth passed on from generation to generation to the inheritance of beliefs? Don't underestimate the teachings you have received, let alone what you can teach. Every believer is a learner, and every learner is also responsible. Be the life teacher of others.

Paul in 2:1-3 What is the Discipleship of Inheriting Life? The goal of discipleship is to

1. Be strong in difficult times v.1 We are to experience how to be “strong” in the “grace” of Christ Jesus.

2. To be lifelong learners v.2 We must first be taught, to teach those who can be faithful and able to teach others.

3. Willing to fight for Christ v.3 The disciples should exercise themselves as "good soldiers" in the world, and suffer "suffering" together in the last days.

Answer the prayer:

Lord, always remind me to make disciples myself and to make disciples.
