Pray for the wise king

Pastor To Chongji

Reading: Psalm 72:1-20

Selected Scripture Reading: Psalm 72

1. O God, grant your justice to the king and your righteousness to the son of the king. 2. Let him judge your people with righteousness, and your afflicted with justice. ...4. He will avenge the afflicted among the people, save the poor, and crush the oppressor. 5. The sun is still there, the moon is still there, and people will fear you ["people will fear you": the Septuagint translation is "may he live forever". ], until Bandai! ...

9. He who lives in the wilderness will bow down before him, and his enemies will lick the soil. ...11. All kings will bow down to him, and all nations will serve him. 12. The poor cry out, and he will rescue, and the poor who have no one to help, he also rescues. 13. He will have pity on the poor and the poor, and save the lives of the poor. 14. He will redeem them from oppression and cruelty, and their blood is precious in his sight. ...

17. May his name endure forever, his name as long as the sun ]; may people be blessed in him, and the nations may call him blessed. 18. Only Yahweh, the God of Israel, can do wonders, and he should be praised! 19. Blessed also be his glorious name forever and ever. May his glory fill the whole earth! Amen! Amen!

20. The prayer of David, son of Jesse, is finished.

Times Meditation:

This is David's prayer for his son Solomon (20) and is the only psalm about Solomon in the Psalms. This psalm describes a perfect king, but part of the description applies only to the Messiah.

In today's world, there are very few people in power who rule with fairness and justice, but they often suppress those who uphold justice, govern with lies, use unscrupulous means to attack political enemies, and use power and position for personal gain.

This psalm gives a realistic reminder that righteousness is God's attribute, not human nature. Doesn't history repeat the history of an unjust regime being overthrown, and the one who came to power became another unjust regime? If only God would do justice, in fact, everyone is looking forward to the day when Christ reigns as soon as possible!

Answer the prayer:

Ask Heavenly Father to remind me as David always remembers the next generation so that they may be blessed before God.
