Walking in Hong Kong: Kat O, Ap Chau, Tung Ping Chau

(edited)
Finally set foot in Dongpingzhou, which is a wish.

I believe people in Hong Kong must know that Dongpingzhou is the farthest island within Hong Kong. It belongs to one of the well-known geographical knowledge, but not many people have been there.

Looking at Dongpingzhou from the boat, the entire height from left to right is indeed quite average.

I also believe that most people want to go once, but a boat trip takes one and a half to two hours, and it takes three or four hours to go back and forth, and there are only departures on weekends and public holidays. Many people think it is too much work. . In recent years, probably due to the impact of the epidemic, most people have not been able to travel abroad, so local travel is not spared. These long-distance boat tours are said to attract a lot of people, especially the newly launched Leyou card, which allows a group of people from 60 to 64 years old to use most of the local transportation for two yuan. Even these ultra-long-distance boats Shipping routes are also included. Taking Dongpingzhou as an example, the regular price is 50 yuan per trip, and the round-trip (usually must buy a round-trip ticket) will cost 100 yuan, so the discount of only 4 yuan is naturally very attractive.

When we planned, we were also worried that we might not be able to buy tickets. First of all, if you are not a concessionaire and you are planning to buy tickets with Octopus, you can book online, and you will be given priority to board the boat without queuing. The rest have to go to the pier to buy tickets in the morning, of course, on a first-come, first-served basis. However, looking at the facts, the shipping company will open additional shifts according to the number of people, and can open two or three more shifts. Therefore, in most cases, you should not worry about not being able to buy tickets.

Kat O — Ap Chau

It's a one-off trip, but you can only go to Kat O and not to Ap Chau, but not the other way around. The boat departs from Ma Liushui Pier, first to Kat O, let people who do not go to Ap Chau disembark, then go to Ap Chau, those who travel to Ap Chau have about two hours, then return to the pier, take a boat to Kat O , roam for another two or three hours, and then take a boat back to Ma Liushui Wharf. The flight is fixed, if you miss it, you will have to spend the night on the island, and you will have to ship back at the same time the next day.

We traveled on this day. As a result, we all boarded the first boat, which was originally scheduled to leave at 9:00, but it turned out to be more than 20 minutes earlier. Since it was full, the second boat could not be docked for people to board, so it was very early to leave. Reasonable, the second boat can leave at 9 o'clock as normal, everyone is happy.

Before...
After...

Ap Chau is about a fifteen-minute flight from Kat O. This island is very small and there are no people on weekdays. The biggest point is the duck's head. There is a hole like a duck's eye. It is clearly visible from the boat and there is no one at all. But as soon as the boat docked, most of the people headed in that direction. As mentioned in some introductions, if you want to play a card alone, you must first get off the boat, and then quickly run over (within about five minutes), before other people come, and enjoy the beautiful scenery alone, otherwise, it will be crowded, even if there are people in line, There were too many people waiting for the center point, some people walked around, and some climbed up and down, and the only boat left after about two hours. When looking back on the boat. The duck group tour to Ap Chau, wonderful.

There are still some residents on the island. There used to be a fishing village, so there is an Ap Chau Story Museum. Unfortunately, it was not open at that time due to the epidemic. A basketball court in front of the gate was also enclosed. The other side of the island is somewhat high, and there is a viewing platform at the top. , you can watch the neighborhood at 360 degrees, and Shenzhen Yantian is on one side, which is very close and slightly affects the landscape. There are no shops on the island at all, and even a water supply cannot be supplied, so you have to prepare yourself.

Back on the boat to Ji'ao, there are a lot of shops near the pier. It happened to be lunch time, and everyone lined up to buy food. However, under the strict restrictions on gatherings, some restaurants do not provide dine-in, and everyone buys take-out and then finds a place to eat. In the afternoon, visiting Ji’ao is actually not a big place. If you walk from the pier in the middle to both sides, you should have enough time to go back and forth. It also depends on your personal ability and preference. But because the return ship left at 3:30, the time may not be sufficient. We just walked around at random, passing by some scenic spots, such as Tianhouguan, karma tree, hexagonal well and some villages, and it was a visit here. This is also a camping hotspot, and there are also some accommodation available, and you can probably explore in depth if you stay for one night.

Dongpingzhou

The name is quite familiar, and I also know that the various rocks on the island have accumulated millions of years of changes and precipitation, and I have seen many photos, but seeing it with my own eyes is still shocking, and the photos really cannot fully capture the whole picture. Dongping prefecture should be bigger than Ji'ao, and the return boat leaves at 5:15, so there is relatively more time, but it would be meaningless if you are just looking at the flowers and playing cards. And once you arrive at a certain scenic spot, you are likely to be completely attracted by the beauty at that time. You must fully immerse in it and don't be too eager to leave. Therefore, it is best to adjust the mentality first, but also pay attention to rushing the boat.

There are many places on the island for camping, and there are also stores to provide accommodation. It should be a good experience to spend a weekend. The rock piles of each scenic spot are different, and most of them are along the coastal areas. If you plan to bundle up and swim, you must prepare the equipment and configuration, and some places will be more dangerous. And walking along the coast, there is basically no shade of trees, so you need to evaluate your physical and mental strength. In addition to that, it is possible to detour to another attraction via a mountain road, but the time can be quite tight to get to all the attractions.

This is the kind of rock described as "thousand-layer cake", formed layer by layer, a testimony of time.

This is Zhanjingzhou, and suddenly there is no section. It is seawater erosion, weathering, and the power of nature.

This is the "dragon entering the water", a long section of the dragon entering the water. Most especially, it is formed by the combination of two different rock formations, the lower one is very dark and the upper one is pale white. Also note that there is a naturally formed cave on the right, and the side facing the sea has an endless view, and the sea breeze blows, even in hot weather, it is still very comfortable.

Afterword: I finally came to Dongping Prefecture, which can be said to have reduced a regret. This is really a special tourist location, it is an eye-opener, and it is unparalleled to see pictures and pictures. As a Hong Konger, should go once. There are several food shops on the island, selling almost the same food, sea urchin, fried rice with scallops, not many choices, but well done. The manpower is very tight, everyone should be considerate. They are only open on weekends and holidays. The goods are also transported by the ferry from Ma Liushui. Therefore, when the ferry docks in the morning and the night, a large amount of goods will be dropped off, so the price is slightly expensive. learn. I'm happiest when the drinks are super frozen. They don't put them in ordinary refrigerators, they put them in coolers like plastic boxes, add water and ice, so they are super-frozen. I asked for a bottle of soda and it was super cool, and I'll ask for another bottle later!

When traveling abroad, you will always encounter garbage, which is sometimes very annoying. Dongpingzhou and Ji'ao are not too bad. There may only be tourists on weekends and holidays, but it is still disappointing to see some. Is it not a civic responsibility to take away your own garbage? This time, when I went to Dongpingzhou, I walked from the pier to the beach and saw seven or eight young people who looked like middle school students from an international school, holding garbage. It should be an event organized by a school or some organization. The boat fee for their group is 100 yuan per person, not counting each person traveling to and from Ma Liushui by car, it is really hard work. If you really like Hong Kong so much, you will hold garbage everywhere, at least deal with the garbage you make, shouldn’t it be an excessive requirement? Let everyone continue to enjoy this natural beauty.
