Have you seen such a special report? [So-and-so's latest investment leaves experts in awe, big banks panic] Fake Liberty Times and Celebrity Investment Scam

Have you ever seen an article in the "Freedom Times" on the Internet about "Terry Gou's investment panics banks" or "Huang Zijiao's latest investment leaves experts in awe"? Recently, a large number of Facebook advertisements have even attracted people to click into such a fake Liberty Times investment scam with the post "He doesn't know the camera is still recording...", and many celebrities have been embezzled their names one after another, including Ma Ying-jeou, Wu Jing, and Elon Musk. , Cai Hongtu…

Fake Liberty Times Investment Scam Process

Social Platform Advertisement - "He doesn't know the camera is still recording..."

Recently, there have been many such Facebook advertisement posts, with the title "He doesn't know the camera is still recording... Is his career over like this?" and matched with photos of Ma Ying-jeou or artists Huang Zijiao and Wu Jing, attracting people to click, actually to take you to a fake Liberty Times page

It can be seen that although the sponsors of each ad are different, the content of these posts is exactly the same, and even the head posts of the sponsors are exactly the same

The method of "click bait" is also used in the posts, that is, the headlines that are surprising, curious, and sensational are fascinating and attract people to click.

Through Meta's advertising database, it can also be found that although the ad using Ma Ying-jeou's name has been removed from Meta due to "political content, but no disclaimer", several others are still being published, please be sure to Be careful

Fake Liberty Times report

After clicking on the article in the advertisement strip, I found that this has nothing to do with the post at all! I thought I could see some footage accidentally recorded by the camera, but I was disappointed (ㄨㄟˊ No xd)

Unexpectedly, after entering, it turned out to be an article that looks very much like the Liberty Times

The title of the article is " Special report: Huang Zijiao's latest investment leaves experts in awe and panics big banks "

The subtitle was " Taiwanese people have exploited this 'wealth loophole' to make millions at home, but is it legal to do so? "

This article uses such a title and subtitle to attract people who want financial freedom (almost everyone's dream), and uses the name of the Liberty Times and celebrities to make people feel very credible

Through the text, he found that almost the entire article was promoting an investment tool " Immediate Edge ", which is claimed to be a new cryptocurrency automatic trading program

"Taiwan News" host Yin Khvat invited Huang Zijiao to the show to share his secrets of wealth, and the musician dropped a scam on the show:
“I was successful because I was able to jump at the opportunity quickly and without hesitation. And now my number one money maker is a new cryptocurrency automated trading program called Immediate Edge. This is what I’ve seen in a single voice One of the biggest get-rich-quick opportunities, so I advise everyone to use it before the bank closes it”

In addition, it can be seen that in another fake Liberty Times report using the name of Ma Ying-jeou, both the title and the text are exactly the same, but the name and photo are changed to Ma Ying-jeou

Fraudulent Investment Vehicle - Immediate Edge

In this article, the investment tool "Immediate Edge" is repeatedly mentioned, and there are even many buttons to attract people to click and enter.

The article states that “ Immediate Edge allows you to profit from all these cryptocurrencies, even in bear markets. It uses artificial intelligence (AI) to automatically handle longs and shorts for you so you can make money 24/7, even in Earn money while you sleep.

Not only the subject of the article falsely uses Ma Ying-jeou, Huang Zijiao and Guo Taiming, but also the name of Richard Branson, Elon Musk and Bill Gates to endorse in the text

This photo can also be found through Google's image search. This photo was originally taken in 2017, not the 2022 CES conference claimed by the article at all.

After actually clicking on the link of Immediate Edge, you will enter his official website, which is a scam! Check with anti-fraud experts to know

Identify fake Liberty Times investment scams by the following characteristics

1. Use simplified characters or poor grammar

Whether it's in Facebook posts, fake Liberty Times articles, or official websites

  • For example, a Facebook post "He doesn't know the camera is still recording... Is his career over like this?", not only in simplified Chinese characters, but also in terms of "camera" and "video", which are rarely used by Taiwanese, It even attracted the discussion of PPT villagers.
  • The button inserted in the article of the fake Liberty Times, the click appeal above is also in simplified Chinese characters
  • The official website of Immediate Edge also has a strange statement "only 43 remaining positions in Taiwan"

2. Verify article pictures

This article cites a lot of photos as proof, but in fact many of these photos were stolen from other places, the original intention of the photos is fundamentally different from what is said here

You can use Google to search for pictures like me, right-click on the picture you want to find, and click "Search for pictures through Google"

You can see where the same picture is used, and you can also enter the article to see, maybe you will find out by accident that it is completely different from the original situation of the photo.

Even found that the readers inside use the reader photos in the results are downloaded from the gallery Shutterstock

3. Blurred pictures

This kind of fake website often puts the logos of other companies to increase the credibility of the website, but they are copied or saved from other websites, often not high-definition original file pictures

Here you can see that there are several Icons that look particularly unclear, especially the Chinese characters on them are almost unrecognizable

4. Exaggerated alike

Both fraudulent investment tools and fraudulent shopping websites have such characteristics. In order to relieve your doubts that this is a business match, they like to put a lot of fake user experiences in the customer reviews. All of them praise the product. Any concerns or negative comments

But if this thing really works so well that celebrities and commoners use it, how could you have never heard of it before? !

5. Check the URL

Take the following picture as an example. If it is a celebrity investment fraud by impersonating a well-known news website, you can pay special attention to the part of the URL . Usually, the domain name is related to the company's trademark or image. The real Liberty Times uses their abbreviation "ltn" as the domain name, but the domain name of these reports using Terry Gou's name is "treoatio", which is far from the Liberty Times and has no connection to the website.

We are currently observing domains used by fake Liberty Times, please be careful when you see:

  • treoatio[.]com
  • poecilogale[.]info
  • dachshound[.]info
