We all gained some courage to fight the world from communicating with each other | "Cypherpunk" reading event-Shenzhen venue

We all gained some courage to fight the world from communicating with each other by TWONE

background

There weren’t many people in Shenzhen (less than 10 people). And almost no one had read the e-book, and there were many people who were not in the web3 circle. So I took the most simple and easy-to-understand way to lead everyone to read together.

go through

At the beginning, I played the video of Assange's show for everyone, and waited for everyone to arrive.

While watching the video, I gave a brief introduction to the characters and background, and at the same time told everyone that cypherpunk itself is a book in the form of a dialogue. Today we can regard ourselves as members of the early cypherpunks, and we ourselves are the people sitting together and discussing in the video.

I told the audience to think about this: Why do you want to attend this cypherpunk reading group today? What topics do you want to discuss? How do you understand cypherpunk?

Thus, the atmosphere of this book club started to pick up. From the beginning, everyone was silent and didn't know each other, and then they started to talk about their understanding of encryption. Different people had different opinions, so the discussion was very intense, and even needed to be controlled from the beginning.

Therefore, the first point of review summary is:

In the case of a small number of people, different backgrounds, and a common curiosity about crypto-punks, the leader can break the ice as quickly as possible through a brief introduction (video, oral introduction, etc.), asking questions, and encouraging discussion, and everyone will have a certain preliminary understanding of the topic through communication.

Starting to read at this time will be much more effective than directly leading the reading.

Because the text of this book is very powerful and I really enjoyed it when I read it myself, so I did two things:

First, I used the EVA text template and made a few pictures. Let me tell you: Cryptopunk thought is similar to the third impact that the world is facing. The world is changing and humans are awakening (a quiet seeding from a geek)

Second: Because words are really powerful, I even made a 3-page PPT to show the original text in the cypherpunk book. Please read along:

Follow-up and feedback

Overall the results are very good! Some good feedback:

Because I brought some Green Pill books (Green Pill + Impact DAO) to the Shenzhen event, before everyone arrived, I briefly introduced the ideas that Green Pill wanted to convey and what Uncommons was doing to the partners who arrived earlier.

After listening to the course, some friends first asked about the content of the courseware and then wanted to buy the two small books of Green Pill.
  • Because the book is not for sale, I recommended the official download link of the electronic version, and then this friend joined our TG and began to introduce himself.

  • After reading the content in the TG channel, he also recommended our articles to others and set an alarm to attend our quarterly meeting and ask questions.

  • I also received this comment: "Thank you for bringing more people closer to modern civilization." To be honest, I was quite moved. I seldom participate in offline activities, but at this time, I suddenly realized the significance of offline activities.

  • Let the concept of Green Pill spread to further places: I gave two copies of the Green Pill book to a friend from Changsha who came to listen to the sharing. He plans to open a living room in Changsha, so our books can be found in Changsha’s living rooms.

  • Content: One of the listeners is studying labor and is very interested in digital labor. I told her about Fang Ting’s last CCC article and some attempts by the Uncommons community to combine blockchain and offline, and she was also very interested.

  • After listening to the sharing and discussion, a group of people who did not believe in or even questioned cryptocurrencies began to believe in and recognize cryptocurrencies, and were even prepared to buy some Bitcoin themselves (crossed out): This should be one of the biggest surprises of this event.

  • When I first started reading, a middle-aged man wearing sunglasses came and asked some very basic questions in very unstandard Mandarin. As a result, after this conversation, he thought that cryptocurrency was a good thing, and a friend was even going to teach him how to buy some

Later I found out that he was the local landlord who owned the entire storefront 😂

Thoughts:

Communication is really important!!

Ideas are the greatest public good, and I am not kidding you.

We all gained and grew from communicating with each other, and also gained some courage to fight the world.

I think this is the significance of the Crypto Thought 20-city event.

Thanks to all the friends who support me, Zhou Momo, Xiaoyu, Shiyu, K and so on...
