Abstract: This is a quick overview of the NFT ecology, including almost all important information in the current NFT world, such as platforms, projects, data, characters, theories, trends, etc. If you are or are planning to study NFT, this The article is definitely the opening reading you should read.

Here's my subscription growth from October 2019 to now, almost exactly a year ago. As you can see, interest in NFTs is growing. So I think it's time to write an article that systematically introduces the NFT ecosystem. I did my best to put all NFT related projects I know of into this post, but you know, the world is big, so don't be offended if I left out your project!

I'm very excited to announce Zima Red's first sponsor! My good friend Digital . Digital is an amazing creator who is tokenizing his art and music. He's been on a continuous creative high-speed track, and you can see all of his work on his website Danky.Art . Be sure to subscribe to his newsletter, where there are updates from the Ethereum ecosystem on the journey of a digital artist. Sign up here - Digital Newsletter .

Comprehensive transaction

  • OpenSea - The #1 NFT exchange, and the king of the NFT ecosystem. This is the most comprehensive one-stop shop that allows users to trade NFTs, create NFTs, view data, and consult other wallets.
  • Mintbase - A marketplace to buy, sell and mint NFTs. The main difference with Mintbase is that it offers NFTs that are not commonly found on other platforms. For example, Mintbase covers niche NFT categories such as music, memberships, services, tickets, news, and photography.
  • TokenTrove - A marketplace to trade Gods Unchained, Cryptovoxels and Crypto Space Commander NFTs.

art market

  • SuperRare - One of the most senior and absolutely dominant NFT art markets. Artists must apply to be allowed to sell on SuperRare, and the waiting list is very long.
  • Nifty Gateway - Nifty Gateway is an NFT art platform that was launched earlier this year and has now become an extremely important player in the NFT space. Nifty Gateway is held by Gemini, a cryptocurrency exchange founded by the Winklevoss brothers.
  • Rarible - The first NFT art marketplace to implement token-incentivized trading. It's a big move and I'm sure many will follow suit.
  • Async Art - Allows artists to create multiple NFTs from a single piece of art. Interestingly, these NFTs can subsequently change their "state". For example, if someone changes the status from sunny to stormy, the artwork changes from a sunny island scene to a stormy island.
  • MakersPlace - A successful art platform where artists can tokenize and trade their work.
  • KnownOrigin - A platform that allows artists to mint and trade crypto art. Launched in 2018, they are yet another OG in the NFT art world.
  • Cargo - Cargo is a newbie and their current focus is on NFT art, though their website says "It's a place to create, share, sell and buy digital collectibles." So I think they'll add other types eventually NFT assets.
  • Blockparty - Another new platform focused on NFT art. Similar to Cargo, I think they will introduce other non-art NFTs in the future.

data

  • Nonfungbile - Coingecko and Coinmarketcap of the NFT ecosystem, Nonfungbile is the best place to check everything related to NFT data.
  • NFTBank - A platform with excellent NFT portfolio tracking and analysis tools. Just copy and paste an ETH address and the tool will return all its NFT transaction data.

finance

  • NFTfi - The first non-financial secured lending platform. Users can earn money by lending ETH or DAI to those who put their NFTs as collateral. Vice versa, users can stake their NFTs to get ETH or DAI loans. NFTfi has seen impressive growth since its launch this year, looking forward to the future of the platform (note: I'm an investor in NFTfi, so I'm very biased!)
  • NIFTEX - A place to split NFTs into "shards". These shards are ERC20 tokens that allow for higher liquidity transactions compared to NFTs.
  • yinsure - A platform where users can create tokenized insurance contracts.

Collection

I classify collectibles as assets with little functionality. You can think of them as baseball cards, but because they're digital, they can do so much more.

  • CryptoPunks - The first NFTs issued on Ethereum. They are a set of 10,000 pixel collectibles.
  • NBA Top Shot - Officially licensed NFT collectible by the NBA. Note that these NFTs are on the Flow blockchain, not the Ethereum blockchain.
  • CryptoKitties - The first NFT project to spread widely on the web, it got people excited about the potential of NFTs. They are cute cats with different characteristics and rarities, and can be bred to produce more cats.
  • Avastars - A stuff that generates avatars entirely on-chain. The Avastars team is working on a lot of exciting updates, so maybe I'll need to move them from the "Favorites" category to the "Games" category soon.
  • SoRare - Fantasy football game where users can buy, trade and play with official digital player cards.

game

Gaming NFTs can be classified as assets with high functionality within their universe or environment.

  • Axie Infinity - The most popular crypto game. It features "fierce, fantasy pets that you can fight and collect while earning cryptocurrency."
  • Gods Unchained - A digital trading card game where users battle other players and trade cards.
  • MyCryptoHeroes - Fast and random RPG where players collect, train and fight.
  • CryptoSpaceCommander - Space MMO (massively multiplayer online game) where users can fight, trade, and build spaceships and other stuff.

virtual reality

A virtual world can be classified as an immersive platform where the user has partial or possibly full ownership of the world.

  • Cryptovoxels - Dubbed the "Minecraft of Blockchain" due to users building from blocks, Cryptovoxels were the first blockchain-based virtual worlds and became popular among crypto artists and crypto art collectors. Currently, there are all kinds of people and teams from all over the world building amazing content at Cryptovoxels.
  • Decentraland - Decentraland is the first project to raise funds and build its strong team based on the virtual world of the blockchain. They have been busy building since their initial ICO in 2017 and have been a huge hit this year. Although Cryptovoxels was the first to "go live", I still think Decentraland is the leader in blockchain-based virtual worlds.
  • Somnium Space - High-end virtual world for all but especially for VR aficionados. Users can enter Somnium Space through a PC or use a VR headset to experience all the details.
  • The Sandbox - A virtual world focused on gaming. Although not yet released, Sandbox already has a large number of investors and supporters. So I have high expectations for them.

crypto art

Crypto art is art that has been tokenized on the blockchain.

Given that I've already listed crypto art platforms above, I'll just list some notable crypto artists here:

This small list does not cover all talented crypto artists. I encourage everyone to explore more artworks and artists on the art platforms listed above.

other

This category is huge and diverse, so I'll only list some of them here. I believe the "Other" category will spawn many others in the coming months.

domain name:

NFTs for physical collectibles:

There will be more collectible physical NFTs in the near future, so this market should explode in the next 12 months.

DAOs

  • Ark.Gallery - A DAO focused on community ownership of NFTs. This is a project I will be keeping an eye on!
  • Flamingo - DAO focused on NFT investing. This is a project initiated by the genesis team at The LAO, and I think Flamingo will soon become a major force in the ecosystem.

NFTs x DeFi

  • Aavegotchi - Aavegotchi makes "DeFi - Staking Crypto Collectibles" possible. They are pushing the envelope and users can not only collect interesting NFTs, but also earn from their assets. I think in the near future we will see more convergence between DeFi and NFTs.
  • MEME - MEME allows $MEME token holders to stake their tokens, and in return, users earn rare NFTs. This is an interesting project because I personally like scenarios where some "proof-of-work" method has to be performed in order to obtain a rare non-functional NFT. In a sense, "proof of work" provides some intrinsic value. If you want to learn more about PoW in the NFT world, visit my blog "Proof of Work in the Non-Fungible Token (NFT) World" .

social token

  • Forefront - Coinmarketcap/CoinGecko of the social token ecology (except for its slightly inferior resource advantages such as news and assets).
  • A quick list of some of the social tokens I've been exposed to - WHALE , COIN, JAMM , SWAGG, $ALEX. They are all available on Forefront .
  • Seed Club - The first social token incubator, Seed Club recently launched their first social token creators
  • cultural token
  • Foundation - "Culture" exchange, a platform to buy and sell limited edition items of all types at prices that match your needs.
  • Zora - Exchange for "everything", meaning creators can publish products here and capture all the value they create through the crypto-economic system.

Next step

There will be a lot of exciting NFT projects in the near future, so I may need to update this article soon. What I find most exciting is that this sudden surge in market heat started about four weeks ago and it brought capital attention and more importantly intelligence and talent so I believe there are a lot of people and people at the moment The team is doing incredible things. So feel free to DM me anytime!

Also, everyone should follow the Untitled NFT Hackathon . Exactly what it sounds like, a hackathon focused on the NFT space! I can't wait to see what people are up to and wish them exciting awards.
