human condition

It's not just about her life alone, because the basis of public empathy for her is the affront to human dignity that has happened to her.

The truth of the Fengxian incident is still confusing. Not only is the identity of the victimized woman being debated online, but there are also different accounts of why she was chained around her neck.

Just 1 hour after Xuzhou's fourth announcement on the evening of February 10, well-known screenwriter Li Yaling announced on Weibo that she had learned some "reliable information" from personal channels, describing that Xiaohuamei had traveled from her hometown of Yagu Village, Fugong County, Yunnan Province to her hometown. The most amazing thing about my experience after being "lost" in Jiangsu is the following statement:

The eldest son likes to play Douyin. It was he who told his father Dong Mou that he could monetize through traffic and get social donations.
In order to achieve a better effect, Dong Mou deliberately brought Xiaohuamei to the old house for posing, but the effect was not good at first.
Until the appearance of a Douyin blogger.
When the blogger was filming, Xiaohuamei was not in a state of illness, so she did not tie the iron chain. It was the photographer who found the iron chain on the ground and picked it up and put it on her neck... (The iron chain is not always It was tied, but only when she became ill, and the family did not live in the broken house in the video, but in four houses built by the local government for poverty alleviation)
The photographer told the investigators that this was done to help the family get attention...
After the video of this shooting was released, it finally became popular...

She declared: "I guarantee my professional reputation as an investigative reporter for 13 years: the source of information is absolutely reliable!" And the two most upvoted comments at the bottom agreed with this statement: "This is the most reasonable thing I have seen so far." "This It is more organized, and the order of things is more reasonable. This is the only comment after this matter comes out. Many statements are more subjective, and this makes sense logically."

Of course, there are also some people who doubt many details of this story, ridiculing that this is the screenwriter's brain hole, and then asking: Why are these key information sent by a screenwriter?

Legal blogger Yang Yanxia's Weibo

It is worth noting that this legal blogger, Yang Yanxia, sent out many powerful questions, but avoided asking questions about "Place the photo"; another "Zhuang Wuxie" questioned Li Yaling almost sentence by sentence, but not the "Place". Shooting", but also just ridiculed "this eldest son is so powerful, he actually knows how to play with traffic", how can Dong Mou "learn the art of scene selection and camera voice narration without a teacher".

I found that almost all the doubts are directed at the authenticity of Li Yaling's statement, but this is precisely what many people worry about. In the past two days, people have been asking me: "If the truth of the incident is really so bloody, what should I think of it? this matter?"

I didn't want to write an article about it until the more credible findings were revealed, but I realized that after accepting this statement, many people subconsciously feel that the matter is over, as if chasing a series has finally ended. When I saw the ending that I was satisfied with, it was "the end of the play". This reveals a subconsciousness of Chinese society: once something is tacitly regarded as "reality", people lose their critical reflection on it. It is with this in mind that I think it is necessary to express my opinion.

At first glance, the statement disclosed by Li Yaling is quite subversive: the chains around the neck seen by the public on the video are just posing for attention, a self-defeating prank. This narrative seems to eliminate the "suffering of women", but it fits in with the "traffic game" that many people hate today.

It is of course worthwhile to question the authenticity of this statement, but entangled in this, it is very likely that there will be no results at the moment, because even if there is a more authoritative information release channel, there may still be a situation of "believers keep believing, unbelievers keep believing" in the end. stalemate. I don't know the inside story better than others, but I want to emphasize that even if this statement is true, it still does not clear the guilt. On the contrary, it is more proof that the women involved are not treated as people at home.

The information revealed by this statement is:

  • At least at the time of the onset, Xiaohuamei was indeed tied to an iron chain;
  • Her misery did not receive sympathy, but became a tool used by the family;
  • An ordinary photographer can pick up an iron chain and put it around her neck;
  • Even the son doesn't respect the mother. In order to realize the traffic, he is willing to cooperate with insulting the mother like this;
  • Although she did not suffer from the disease, she could not resist this degrading practice, and it was not up to her to tie the chain or not.

What kind of family could come up with such a terrible idea? But how can a person who has a little respect for his mother tolerate treating her like this? ——Of course, many people firmly believe that (especially after Dong Moumin's 1998 marriage certificate was released this morning), there is another possibility: the woman on the marriage certificate and the person who was chained are no longer the same person, so this It is not the biological mother that the eldest son treats like this, but the stepmother. But regardless of her status, the fact that she was abused is an indefensible basic fact.

Judging from Li Yaling's description, she doesn't seem to notice anything wrong with this approach, but not to mention that she is also a woman, if anyone in the family tells you, please tie an iron chain around the neck to shoot a video and upload it to the Internet, would you like to? Conversely, to what extent is a person's self-esteem suppressed before he succumbs to such demands?

Even more surprising: Most people, including her family, seem to think this is normal. This just confirms what I said in " Fengxian Incident: The Insulted and Damaged " that Chinese society tacitly divides people into three, six or nine classes, and how deeply penetrated - this vividly proves that people are subconsciously The idea is: "You can't do this to normal people, but it's just a joke to treat a crazy woman who is on the fringes of society."

Of course, I also know that there are countless mentally ill people chained to their homes by their families, but it's one thing out of desperation, it's another thing to have fun with it - the latter is even worse. Just like many children who have been immersed in their ears and eyes since childhood, chasing beggars and lunatics for fun, never realizing the cruelty of it, but the unconscious violence of family members and conscious profit motives are far more terrifying. What I'm trying to say is this: No matter what the reasoning behind it is, it cannot be excused.

After the incident, there is also a view that the result of the denunciation on the Internet is only to cause this "family to be torn apart", "The most pitiful one is that crazy woman with eight children, as long as there is a future income point, she will depend on her in her later years. In the end, this hope was also dashed, as for her illness, where did she go, and she didn't end up being left out and dying miserably?"

Weibo owner "Hu Fei Daxia" also said that although he "doesn't like Li Yaling as a blogger very much, but her Weibo yesterday made me feel real", because "many decisions in life are based on two evils." It's a light decision, not an either-or decision." At the moment, "it would not be better to send Yang Xia to a mental hospital or a nursing home than to stay at home", "Once a family relationship is established, in addition to Families, no one can meet this need.” He emphasized that it is good to defend the rights of the parties like Luo Xiang, "but that is not life."

It can be said that this view is extremely popular in Chinese society. It emphasizes that the reality is not only unchangeable, but even your best choice. Probably because of this, the "Hero Hu Fei" said in another Weibo post on February 3:

Whether it's a man or a woman, getting married and having children is the real meaning of adulthood. Getting married is a quantitative change in growing up, and having children is a qualitative change. Saying that you don't get married or have children is childish. To put it bluntly, it's just being stupid. Not to mention the theory of female boxing's self-isolation from society.

But there is an unexplainable paradox in this philosophy: it both asserts that reality is your only option and insists that it is your best option, while in theory, since there is no choice, then Can't tell if it's good or not.

So, logically, "it's best for you" is just a helpless self-hypnosis to better accept the "no choice" situation. Just like it is said that there are 20,000 people in this world who are suitable for you, but when you can't get a divorce, convincing yourself that your spouse is the best way to make yourself feel better.

In real life at home, this is often more than just a form of self-deception. In the article "Absurd Judgment: Fengxian Court Does Not Allow Abducted Women to Divorce" , lawyer Peng Ruiping found two judgments of Fengxian Court in the past few years, and found that the plaintiffs were all women from Sichuan and Chongqing, and they all claimed that they were abducted and sold, and asked for divorce. However, the verdict does not allow divorce, and requires the woman to stay. "As long as both parties understand each other, tolerate each other, think more about the children and each other, and jointly maintain an equal, harmonious and civilized marriage and family relationship, it will still be a happy family."

Of course, I also know that the most typical situation of the weak is lack of choice. Therefore, in the judgment documents, there are indeed many women who are willing to stay in the local area after being rescued, but there are two basic conditions for this: one is to ensure that they are born as human beings. Second, they are not coerced and can make rational choices on their own.

This is missing in the Fengxian incident. Whether according to the previous statement or according to Li Yaling's latest statement, it is obvious that she has not received the basic respect of her family, cannot resist the discriminatory practices against her, and is even highly likely to suffer long-term abuse. In this case, what exactly is there? Reasons to believe that she can be happy by staying? If it was you, would you rather be chained around your neck or go to a welfare home?

When it comes to this "family" and she is advised to "stay at home", the first thing to understand is: is this her "home"? Don't forget that home is a nest when your rights are guaranteed and you are treated warmly, but when you are abused and restrained by your family, it is the most terrifying shackle.

On the other hand, after her personality has been insulted, she still believes that staying is the best way out for her. This is not so much a sincere consideration for her, but rather reflects the inner thoughts of the counselor: "alive" is more important than anything else , Personal dignity cannot be eaten as food, it is not a necessity but a luxury.

She does not only have two options: "stay" and "live on the streets and die tragically". After the investigation is true, what should be done is to have a public institution properly resettled to protect her due rights and interests. If possible, I believe that there are many non-profit organizations willing to lend a helping hand. If the corresponding mechanism has not been perfected before, then the Fengxian incident can become a touchstone.

It's not just about her life alone, because the basis of public empathy for her is the affront to human dignity that has happened to her. In 1789, the Italian theologian and philosopher Nicola Spedalieri put forward in "The Rights of Man" that people have the right to manage society in order to maximize their own interests, and any obstruction to this right should be rejected or even adopted. way of resistance.

For thousands of years, Chinese people have become accustomed to "it is better to die than to live". Qin Shutian in the movie "Furong Town" even has a famous line "Live like an animal." This is not a normal social form after all.

Today, we have reason to make such a request: "Treating people as people" is what everyone deserves to be treated. This is not only a moral expectation, but more necessary to become a system construction to ensure its realization.
